Been working a bit more on the terminator sarge, currently doing the cape, thought a teal/turquise would be an interesting colour!

Ive also decided to use these excellent scibor bases for my, well, bases!
trouble is what do i paint the broken heads as? thoughts i have had so far is white marble, black marble or heavily weathered/loads of verdigris bronze.

I also found this interesting picture, if youve heard the song 19 by Paul Hardcastle, you will understand it!

cheers man, im still trying to work out what i want to do...

anyway the sarge is done (apart from the base)
i dunno why the sword colours came out weird on camera?
which termie shall i do next? i reckon the stupid shoulder pad guy.

And at last FW have released the decals i want.

when im a little better off i shall get some and probably one of those new dreads as i like them so much!

Ok so ive decided to speed paint minotaurs.

heres a little run down of the process and estimated time taken for 5 terminators from start to finish.

1: build and base the termies, estimated time 1 hour.

2: prime them (notice how well halfords grey primer covers?), estimated time 5 minutes, total so far 1 hr 5 minutes.

3: base coat them with halfords "ford aztec bronze" paint (retails at £7 a can) estimate time 5 minutes, total so far 1hr 10 mins.

4: drybrush with shining gold (i forgot pics of this step...) estimated time 10 minutes, total so far 1hr 15mins

5: paint all metals chainmail. estimated time 10 minutes, total so far 1hr 25 mins
try to be neatish, except on the crux's! the pads get repainted red in a minute!

more to follow....

Automatically Appended Next Post:
ok step 6: paint shoulder pads, purity seal wax's, the eyes and lightning claws red. Try to be as neat as possible while still being fast! estimated time 10 mins, total so far 1hr 35mins.

7: getting there now! paint the paper on purity seals that light brown foundation colour (i forget the name) estimated time, 5 mns, total so far 1hr 40 mins.

8: paint the bases bestial brown as fast as possible! estimated time, 10 mins , total so far 1hr 50 mins.

9: "overbrush" the bases with bleached bone, estimated time taken, 5 mins, total so far 1hr 55 mins.

more to follow!

ok were up to step 10! almost done!

10: devlan mud wash (you knew it was coming) EVERYTHING (please note in pic only the marine is washed, its so i can let it dry then hold it while i wash the base. estimated time taken 10 minutes, time taken so far 2hrs 5mins.

Ok so the squads finished (apart from decals which i shall purchase when i have more mini's painted)

step 11:
i gave the minis a super watered down coat of hawk turquise for a little verdigris. (doesnt seem to show in pics very well, although its subtley there IRL) time taken 5 mins, time so far, 2hrs 10 mins

step 12: Rim and flock the bases! time taken 10 mins, total time 2hrs 20 mins.

so the whole squads done..

heres little close up.

For less than 30 minutes per mini, i'm happy with these!

Cheers man, its all about the speed!

So following on from my speed painted minoatur space marines, i decided i would have a crack at this old bucket of stealers i've had laying around for ages!

They were all assembled in the evening (not much to assemble really!)

Theres about 30 in total (how many do i need for an all genestealer 1500 nid army?)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Right i also found an old patriarch on his throne (i dont have the magus advisor sadly)

I couldnt prime him stuck to his throne as i wouldnt be able to paint it very well, so what i did was shove a rod up his backside for easier priming/painting!

Look at his face! Thats not the rod coming out of his mouth, thats an old paintjob. i think its his tongue.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ok so heres the lot all primed ready to go!

I'm looking forward to starting these!

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Even all optioned out, you need a bunch of stealers for an army. Run them with the Swarmlord and you can reroll outflanks.

Which ones the swarmlord? what does it look like?

Anyway heres the latest.

So i finished 10 bases worth, (only 20 more to go, plus the throne for the patriarch)

Heres the first finished Stealers, estimated time per mini 30 mins.

The colour came out really dark on the ripper swarms...
time for new camera perhaps?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So ive finished another mini squad of 5 stealers.

yet again my camera sucks unless i get super close so i tried two angles.

again these run at around 20-30 mins per model! i'd like to hit 15 mins haha.

Gutted!

Primed and painted like the other termies along with another squad and the belial proxy.

the verdigris still drying in this pic.

Ive some weathering powders ive never tried using so am going to hav a bash at the raiders with them lol

Right i have been working on some more Minotaurs termies, (not speed painted this time!)

converting up the round shields was a bitch, i have also decided i dont like resin bases. superglue and pinning annoys me no end.

couple of WIP shots for you.

Please ignore the white marble test. its horrible and the hammers will now be painted black!

Cheers!

Right today has been thus eventfull!
I purchased some interesting mediums from hobbycraft.

here they are

Ive since decanted them into little dropper bottles mixed with water, trouble is i use such small amounts of paint even 1 drop is 50% of a mix then!

need to mix both my matte medium mix and my flow improver mix together i feel so i can use 1 drop of mixed.

also done a little more on the termie squad (this is guy number 2)
I'm especially happy with how the recessed sigma symbol has come out (its one of my first freehand attempts)

Oh and i really need a drop pod to be able to field a 1750pt army with what i have so im gonna speed paint one in a couple of days! just like this one!

Right heres a few WIP pics so far to prove the project hasnt come to a halt (its just slow!)

I absolutely love the weathering on your razorback.

The terminators look good, the marble effect on the hammer is really effective. How did you do that, successive washes over a light base?

Did you know? The Reach belongs to the Forsworn.

Hi buddy.
Cheers, i didnt really like how the marble came out but i know why its "wrong" now so next time it should be better.
yeah it was just washes over an off white base, then some thin lines painted on it.

Work continues on the modular gameboard, i still need 2 or 3 more kits to finish it off, a manufactorum, honoured imperium, shrine of the aquilla and probably a bastion kit for the landing pad. Its taking absolutely ages but i am really looking forward to finishing it and using it.

Airbrush Training, Lesson 1
So i thought i would have a crack with the airbrush on an unprimed gameboard section and an old bit of card for practice. It was amazingly fun, i'd reccomend getting one just for playing with! although these are not the right colours for my board section it was easy to get an idea of how its going to look, i like how the blends occur on the roadway for example.
Also i expected the writing and curly shapes etc, to be really hard to do, but they were really easy! I have attached some pictures to see my first attempts! more updates tomorrow!

Airbrush training, lesson 2
Hi all, welcome to another update! today i have plaed a lot more with the airbrush and am pleased with the speed its churning out this scenery, i have attached some current WIP pics of the first section again. still a lot more to do but ive got the jist of the brush now so its all progress rather than fiddling! i AIM to produce a board section a week, but i predict it will really be 2 weeks per section (including building parts etc) so this could be anywhere between a 6 week to a 12 week project (3 months???) maybe i will paint some minotaurs i n between board sections? ive a feeling a certain minotaur character soon to be released by forge world may get me going full speed ahead! anyway heres the pics!

Cheers guys! all the good feedback is appreciated big time!

Anyway,

WIP SUNDAY
Carcharodons drop pod WIP.

Hi everyone!, today i am showing you a carcharodons drop pod i'm working on. this ones a bit of a test as its my first "proper" painted unit using an airbrush, and i'm also trying out the hairspray weathering technique. i'm a little further on than the pictures show and have just finished the chipping. you can see my results and opinions next time! Heres the pics!
