One guy makes a joke in a metal thread and it's trolling, but in a pop-related thread...

DickBandit wrote:More or less goth rock, but I would totally want to make the lead singer of Birthday Massacre sing.

I've also got a thing for goth/scene girls... *ahem*

Scene girls have no boobs, ever. Underneath the make-up and hair they're 12 year old boys with vaginas.

Da Boss wrote:I don't think I've ever had a conversation or read a forum thread discussion between metal fans without someone declaring that something "isn't metal". Sometimes it's not "x brand of metal" but still.

Why does metal need so many fecking sub genres anyway? (It's my secret belief that it's because metal fans enjoy elitism, and the more sub genres you have the more scope there is for elitism.)

This is all, of course, beside the point.
I like female vocalists, and I like metal. So yes. I like women in metal. I also like that the women in metal can usually actually sing, as opposed to just yelling semi-incoherantly into the mic.

Punk and rock have lots of sub-genres also.

And metal has a very pretentious crowd. I used to be part of it, but meh. No music is the ultimate, and you'll always end up liking at least one thing you hated at one point.

What! No love for Italy?

My wife likes Lacuna Coil and the aforementioned Nightwish, along with some Cradle of Filth, Amon Amarth, and others.

She also likes Lady Gaga.

Despite this I still love her

I like me some good symphonic or Folk Metal. Even some Scottish Pirate Metal (Alestorm!). Most of the other like Lacuna coil, Epica, Nightwish etc etc have already been mentioned.

Guess it goes back to my Iron Maiden days in high school

These days, most of the good metal stuff seems to be coming out of Northern Europe.

And I like alot of the stringed covers of classic metal too. Metallica done by Apocalyptica, Vitamin String Quartet, or Rodrigo & Gabriella is pretty awesome-here theyre jamming with Robert Trujillo:

Im also a fan of Rammstein. Til Lindeman could read a Windows User manual and it would be worth listening to

I haven't found any female's who like metal, but I have found a temptress from hell....

I figure, since she's a Temptress, and I like Heavy Metal, I can make it work

Christina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil is awesome. Very talented, very hot, and very nice. My wife's been drinking with her and the guys. I got all their autographs when they were touring the US for Comalies.

Oh yeah id like to see (and hear) more chicks in metal culture. Not just singers, but playing instruments also. Its weird how few there are chicks playing in bands, since there are alot of metalhead chicks out there, at least in finland.

I dont prefer girls over dudes in bands, but id be happy to have them more.

Of course, if I get a job I don't like in a career i'm not interested in, I will end up caving in someone's skull in anger.

EDIT: I was close to swearing at my old boss during an apprenticeship placement a LOT of times, and I seriously had to restrain myself from picking up the closest object and beating him to death with it. I used to have a good level of patience, but that was frayed by years of bullying and depression.

Well that's only something you can control; you're not going to do much if you keep putting up barriers to your own progress. If you keep using things that happened in the past as excuses, you're not going to have much of a future.

You're in Stockport, yeah? Search no more:

Grand Central, Oxford Rd., Manchester. Loads of metal chicks in there.

No need to thank me, just name your first child Albatross.

Grand Central!? I'd get shot/stabbed so many times i'd wander out looking like swiss cheese. The last time I dared to go to GC was when the first pokemon movie came out about 10-11 years ago; after that it was Parrswood or the AMC in Manc.

I am unsure of the point of this thread, as to whether it's talking about females that are in metal bands, or female singers, or just the liking of girls who like metal.

Thus, I am going to go through bands that have talented female members that I enjoy. This is not based on attractiveness etc, but rather on their musical talent as I see it.

Eluveitie's Anna Murphy, Triosphere's Ida Haukland and Equilibrium's Sandra Völkl all spring to mind. In addition I really appreciate Emmi Silvennoinen of Ensiferum and Kaisa Jouhki of Battlelore. Elize Ryd of Amaranthe is probably my favourite out of all these small mentions however, not only in her vocal talent on Amaranthe's EP but also her excellent female vocals on Kamelot's 2010 Pandemonium over Europe tour.

There is of course the obligatory Nightwish mention, aswell as Within Temptation, Leaves' Eyes and Epica for obvious reasons.

I think when it comes to talent.

It's clearly obvious... all the Folk, Symphonic, Pagan, and Neo-Classical bands have all the best female singers.

But that's usually due to the fact they sing in very harmonic and operatic voices.
