I may be wrong but I seem to remember that in the previous codex the turbo-penetrator got 3d6 + 3 + rending. The wording for both codexes were the same on this ability except the current version is 4d6..

Can anyone confirm?

It says it is heavy 1, sniper.

So you follow the rules for a sniper weapon except for the part where it specifically over rides the the sniper rule and changes the armor penetration from Str +D6 to 4D6.

I think your take on it manimal makes since

and if the old codex said 3d6 + str + rending

and the new codex just says 4D6, it seems that it would take president over normal AP or old GK codex AP formula.

"If shot at a vehicle, the shot has an armor penetration value of 3d6" is the old codex wording.
And since that let the shot get 3+3d6+rending, I don't see why the new wouldn't.

That's how it was worded in the deamonhunter codex, but does anyone remember how it played?

mrfantastical, lucas points it out in the post above yours. The old codex was written as "If shot at a vehicle, the shot has an armor penetration value of 3d6", but it was FAQed as 3+3d6+rending.

Thank you AG. I wasn't sure if lucasbuffalo was responding or summarizing, anyway here's the witchhunter FAQ for refernece

Q. How does the Vindicare's turbo-penetrator round work in regards to rending?
A. Because sniper rifles are rending, when rolling for armour penetration, the Vindicare gets to add a D3 to the total for each dice that comes up a six. So, if one of the three dice is a six, the total penetration would be 6+2D6+D3+3 (giving a result between 12 and 22); if two were sixes, the total would be 12+1D6+2D3+3 (18 to 26); if all three dice were sixes, the total would be 18+3D3+3 (24 to 30!). Almost certainly enough…
