Oldest kit? I have no idea. I just wanted to put in a groan joke.
If we mean that kind of Plastic, Joan Rivers is infinitely older.

The ork buggy and eldar jetbikes are both pretty old, after those came the vyper and the grav tank but that's all still under 2nd edition. 2nd edition also saw the current marine bikes.
There's lots of stuff from early 3rd edition like the khorne berserkers and catachans.
As for metal, Abaddon and the eldar avatar seem pretty old to me, I got my Abaddon in the lead sale. I have the feeling that the eldar warpspiders have been redone at some point like the Swooping Hawks, those at least are not the same as those being made for RT.
The Rhino was pretty ancient but that got a new kit a few years ago. But considering the number of Rhinos made and the age of the mould I'm surprised they maintained any quality.

Hang on...
Do you mean out of all the models no one ever uses the Chaos Dreadnought is the coolest?
Or,
Do you mean it is the coolest model that by some strange coincidence no one ever uses?

The metal models are usually the coolest but IMO the hardest to work with...

Still in use is the operative term. It has be a toss up between the eldar jetbike and the space marine bike. They haven't aged well at all.

Plastic Eldar jetbike came out when the Space Marine bike was still metal, so it's older.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Melissia wrote:Dunno about plastic ones, but Sisters are still using metal models from second edition. But Sisters were the last thing to come out for 2nd Ed, so that technically makes them the newest 2nd Ed models. And it also meants that these models ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) are some of the oldest in the range. Bjorn fits into this group as well, but I can't find him at the GW website any more... so I guess he's gone.

No Wraithguard in RT 40k.
The warrior aspects and the path were introduced in RT, but the spiders weren't part of that.
Oldest two eldar plastic kits still in production are the jetbike (late RT), Vyper (mid 2nd ed) and Falcon (mid-late 2nd ed).
Oldest plastic SM bikes I've seen had 2nd ed artwork on the box (never saw an RT release of them).
Rough riders are 2nd ed. They were redone with different horse sculpts and newer riders (older RT rough riders had different horses and different riders - the torsos of the riders were cross-compatible with the biker/jetbiker legs for the guard models). The oldest IG rough rider I have has a slouch hat on.

Surely the rough rider horses are the oldest in GW's inventory. They were from fantasy and were already old when the models came out in 2nd edition. Automatically Appended Next Post: Platuan4th wrote:H.B.M.C. wrote:Melissia wrote:Dunno about plastic ones, but Sisters are still using metal models from second edition.

I think the Fraternus Militia (poofy shirts) or Chaos Cultists were the last of 2nd edition, all OOP of course. Automatically Appended Next Post: On metals the Space Wolfs were the last RT releases (and then the first 2nd edition releases) so Ragnar etc would be the oldest.
