I dont think osr is technically a weapon which means the monkey can't upgrade osr.

The lance is has accuracy problems, and osr + ss is a highly contested rules issue.

The techmarine would be best defended with a 12 man squad of cannon fodder henchies, maybe a couple of psychics. None of the henchie shooting attacks mix well with osr to hit the same target. As far as monkies go I don't see throwing 2 lascannon/mm shots at the same target as a barage bomb.

Even if the value of the bolster defenses is rated at 50 points I don't see osr as being worth the remaining 100 points spent on the twechmarine + osr. Its accuracy is highly dependent on a highly contested faq that is not out yet, and any random to might say no to them working with ss. The closest comparible unit is the ig moo which costs 30 points, can scatter less, and the ccs can issue orders to it's self to twin link the moo givingthe option to reroll the scatter dice.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

I had a lot of success with a bunch of these guys hunkered down in an apocalypse game on a very large table in really high terrain. The unlimited range of it was sort of broken in our scenario, and its surprisingly easy to hit a target the size of a Shadowsword despite the awful scatter distance of the OSR.

Templates will almost always hit something in a giant apoc game when 90% of the board is covered with models, and shadowswords have about twice the square area of a land raider. It's a totally different game than what's played at the 2,000 point level.
