here is how it goes...

This is why, whenever i see an army book, i open it. if it says 'written by mat ward' i cry. deeply, for all the poor wargamers who are going to have try and deal with the barsnacks of doom.

He's a construct. A fiction used to put a writing credit on something when every sane person on the planet has told GW to GTFO.

He's the Gaming version of "Alan Smithee".

I found that the War of the Rings rulebook, while it had some flaws, was a pretty good formation based design based on Rick Priestly's previous work for LotR SBG.

This was written by Mat Ward.

Yet with all this other stuff lately, I think his name is now a stigma on the WotR game and people will be less likely to try the game just because of his name being attached to it.

You will have to forgive Mr Hyena. He's a bit butthurt because his beloved GW are taking so much stick recently. Because he can't really justify or defend their actions without being largely ignored or laughed at, he has had to resort to trolling all the recent threads and try to stir up as much ill-will as possible. Witness his attempts at trolling PP fans for proof.

Mat Ward is a writer for GW. He has the credit for WHFB Daemons as well as BA and GK for 40k. Really hating him is what passes for being witty on the internet. Hating him is therefore all the rage because, as we all know, it is important to be witty on the internet. So please don't bother to think for yourself on this subject. You don't need to read his books or actually evaluate them for our purposes. The pictures Kid_Kyoto posted above are sufficient. The most important thing is to fit in. All you need to do is go on and on about how he ruins everything and everyone will like and respect you. What could be an easier way to prove you're nobody's fool?

Mat (not Matt) Ward is a GW rules writer. He wrote some pretty bad books for Fantasy and messed up the balance of the game, but since he moved to 40k his releases have been a lot more solid. Generally speaking his 40k books (Codex: Space Marines, Codex: Blood Angels, Codex: Grey Knights) are notable for having fairly balanced rules but fluff that can be rather over the top. As a result, many people aren't big fans of his take on the 40k universe.
