My 10 incubi arrived yesterday, and there's a couple of the body sections of the models that are perfectly cast, no flaws at all and beautiful detail, but all of the klaives (in both boxes) seem to have slipped so if you were to cut the blade in half down the middle, one side seems to have slipped away a bit so fingers don't line up and the blade has doubled on its self etc.
there was also a lot of cleaning to do so tbh the extra work doesn't really warrant the extra detail.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also there was a lot of flash webbed across the whole sprue on some of the models and one boxes sprue of klaives.

Quick update on this, as painting progresses... Keep finding the odd air bubble I missed before (bottom right corner of the loincloth / tabard). Going to be putting my own spin on him a bit, so I'm not too bothered about matching the studio scheme.

So far the model is coming along nicely. I have never noticed the air pockets in my finecast models before. Thanks.

I'm painting a fine cast Logan Grimnar at the moment. I like the resain, it's a great material which I find sticks to the paint better than metal so it doesn't tend to rub off when handling (Whilst painting I mean, obv metal is no problem after matt varnish)

However..The air bubbles are a complete pain in the arse..quite a few of them.

Overall though the level of detail is superb and it's not been bad to paint. Guess I was one of the lucky ones...

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

Well... the model itself is awesome, but the face blends in with the armour too much... maybe make the hair lighter?

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

What's the latest with the replacement?

I got through 9 Captain Sterns before getting a refund.
5 in the shop, this was number 6, followed by another 3 replacements as it was agreed that the work I had to do to bring this up to par (see the early posts) was unacceptable.

The refund went on some paint and a Finecast Emperor's Champion. That was actually OK - the sword was bent, but straightened easily enough. I did break it and ended up having to pin it (certain joints superglue alone just won't work on, even on finecast). No bubbles though, if that had been the model I'd reviewed it'd have gotten about 8/10, with a caution about some other models being poor quality.

I still find this very weird, bought some resin stuff already and only one needed to get replaced in the shop, the rest was almost flawless (except for some really really small things that you almost did not see.)
But I like the painting you have done! Looks sweet, but indeed, the hair kinda blends in the rest of the model.

I really like the face actually, a really gritty expression. Fantastic painting there! Shame the Finecast was such a let down :(

I emailed GW about Finecast the other day just to see what sort of response I would get and this was it:

Thanks for the email, we have relatively few issues with Finecast models, however with those that we did we evaluated the casting techniques since launch and have improved the molds. However as with any miscast products we are always happy to replace these for correct ones should you receive any that miss our tight quality control checks.

We hope this helps.

Regards

The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.

Bwahahahahaha.... I would really, really like to know what the actual returns percentage is. I just feel sorry for the 10 year olds who aren't capable of spotting the flaws before they start work on the models. But I guess that's the target market.

Wow, GW should include this thread in their semi-annual stockholder report as to the quality of Finecast. Great job with the paint!

Can't dispute the quality of the paint job. That sword in particular is amazing.

It's just a shame GW's casting skills aren't up to the standard of your painting skills.
