I have to agree with the first person their seems to be almost no true point in keeping them a secret.

Khorne infestations will usually end up in a burned planet anyway so it basically ends up like that, one way or another.
Agreed, but the beautiful boys in gray may have more reason to think that once the music stops with a Khornate issue that maybe, perhaps further cleanup is not be necessary.

Err... no, there is no mistaking a daemon with a Xenos, psyker or otherwise. Seeing or even hearing one is a mind-shattering experience for most folks, especially with the ever more common occurrence of latent psychic talent. The populations are exterminated not because they saw the Grey Knights, but because when the GK are deployed the situation is usually way out of hand already.

another reason for secrecy is this.
the eyes of the Chaos Gods are everywhere and their reach is long.
by keeping to themselves they limit the ability for the enemy to infiltrate them. No GK has fallen to Chaos, Yet!!! and they arn't taking any chances.

all Chaos must be burned.
Khorne leaves a wet sticky bloody mess.
Nugle leaves all sorts of nasty diseases.
Tzeench leaves the sickly odor of change about.
Slannesh leaves... well, ya know.
Fire is the best way of cleaning stuff up.

No, Astartes are too valuable to do that.
they are throughly tested before they are released. read the Killing Grounds to see how.

It did, the Space Wolves present at The First War for Armageddon refused to be Mind Wiped and unsuccessfully tried to hinder The Inquisitions attempts to cull those amount Guard Regiments who had witnessed Angron and his Horde. It's one of the largest contributing reasons towards the disagreement between The Space Wolves and The Inquisition.

Whilst it goes back to the orginal material in Realm of Chaos which is nice - however it pretty much retcons ALL the later material written about them - which IMO is bad.
Now it just seems odd and contradictory given that all encounters with Daemons do not result in cleansing.
Also it has numerous issues with things like - do you cleanse soldiers for fighting against a force with a Avatar etc.

Is it worth it? No, for several reasons. Firstly, Daemonic incursions are exceedingly rare. Secondly, the chances of seeing a battle, and a regular Space Marine is rare, what the chances of seeing The Grey Knights? Thirdly, it's a travesty that so many resources are spent killing a few IG, who will likely never have seen The Daemons, will never have contact with the populace, and will die in their next battle.
I think they are intended to spook, much as fairy tales are told to scare children into minding their parents. Automatically Appended Next Post: zxwarrior wrote:I have to agree with the first person their seems to be almost no true point in keeping them a secret.
