Been Around the Block

Took me way too long to stop this but...
I had a nice amount of Immolator boxes from my SoB army, so I used them for paint storage, model storage, etc etc. I left them uncovered and sat at my desk. Smelling something odd, I realized the horrible truth.
While I was gone, my cat pissed in all three boxes. Cleaning it all was a nightmare. Needless to say, dresser behind me is now their resting place

I don' t know which one of my cats do it, but they like peeing on things I spend time with. My WIP marines have taken more than one golden shower, the poor guys:( OTOH, its cat vs space wolf... so far the cats are winning

I've always had cats involved with hobby.
Dusty didn't do anything. He just lay at my feet and didn't move.
Scrumpy hates Skinks - he always used to hop onto the table in the middle of a game and steal a specific skink champion model and run away with it.
Twiglet and Moxy - never allowed in my room so no interactions.
And my own cat in my own place - Elle....a rather good cat. She's quiet, drinks the paint water (all of it)...and when I didn't pay attention to her for a few minutes hopped onto one of my foam trays of minis and pissed in defiance. Thankfully didn't get anything as my slipper is a damn fast projectile but I learned the lesson- pet the cat while painting or she gets an attitude.

I have 3 dogs and my oldest seems to like pulling down minis and books and chewing on them : (. I know she does this for attention because we recently rescued a pit puppy. We keep everything up on the game table.. but the problem is our 120 pound mastif/lab mix will walk around and tail swipe things off of the table.. lol. So we just have to be careful on where we put stuff and where we leave them for the day while we are at work.
Love them all though <3

When I was younger my parents had a lot of dogs (think the current count is 9) when they first got into dog showing their first dog Jovi (loved him to bits) thought it would be a good idea to use my Lemon Russ as a chew toy (Belgium Shepherds can get at anything no matter how far back on the chest freezer you put them ) being a lot younger then I was a bit dismayed but after sulking realised I have a great Terrain piece, it is still at my parents somewhere "Acts of Dog" always have a silver lining
Now I am older I have three dogs of my own and they never bother me with my minis, there is always a danger when they brush past my painting station which is a small fold away table that shudders with each passing waggy tail

My previous cat liked to chew on things. I have lost bits of Land Speeders to him, as he would chew any long pointy bit that was exposed. Probably my fault for leaving WIP models on the window sill of my bedroom...
My current cat... well, she's kind of special. She never bothers my minis. Unless I'm sleeping and she is hungry. She has learned that I can ignore her even if she is standing on my chest squeaking (for she does not meow) into my face while I sleep, but knock one model onto the carpetted floor, and I sit bolt upright in bed. I've actually trained myself to wake up when I hear minis sliding accross the desk.
Or perhaps it's more accurate to say, my cat has trained me to wake up when I hear minis sliding accross the desk...

My two cats eye my models very suspiciously, and sometimes I find them knocked over on the ground. One time, my cat, Willow, took one of my Berserkers in the mouth, and hid it. I found it four days later, outside, in the garage.

I raise free range spiders in my apartment (not necessarily deliberately), and I find that they co-exist with my miniatures quite peacefully.
Note that I had cats as pets as a kid. Free range spiders are very similar to cats: You make sure they have food, make sure that they have some place to be, and let them do what they want.

Cheeto (orange tabby) cares not for my hobby. He would rather sit in a sunbeam and look at me condescendingly as I work on my miniatures. His predecessor, Diamond (tuxedo cat), was an absolute paintwater junkie, however.

Our rabbit will quite often hop through the gaming area (if it's on the floor) and intently study the models, never touching them. He seems to do this to get the attention of my gaming mates, and it works pretty well.

There are 3 cats in my house and a dog. For the cats I make sure they dont come into my bedroom/painting room. On the other hand my dog is allowed into my room and rooms that I play small games in. Due to lack of space I place the board on the floor and my dog would walk across it. Luck me, he never broke any of my minis but always seemed to step and knock over my friends, his new nickname from that point over from me and all of my friends was "warhound titan".

My boys were toddlers when 2nd edition came out. We would try to play a game and my son would grab any miniatures that was near the edge of the table. He actually treated them better than a lot of the teenagers we played with. The teens wound bang them together like they were toy soldiers.
A cat I used to have was so fat, she would walk across the floor and shake it. Eventually, the vibrations made my Land Raider fall off the shelf and I had to re-assemble it.
The cats don't bother us during games, but they like to sleep on the table, leaving fur on the game mat. They also like to drink the brush cleaning water and they knock over stuff on my workbench.
A while back, I left the lid off of my storage tub I kept my foam trays in. Luckily they weren't Sabol, they were homemade. The kids forgot to clean out the litter box and the cats peed all over my tanks. Every piece of steel wire on them had scale rust. I had to run them under water and spray them with frebreeze to get the smell off. Frebreeze turns matte paint into semi-gloss, btw.
