Well, I clicked on it without knowing what it was. So I can see today as being a bad day for tracking data. However with time it seems like it will be a nice feature.

can you move the location to someplace where it is harder to click? make people WANT to exalt something?
Indeed, the place is a bit inappropriate. I have yet to click by mistake, but it has been close a couple of times.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Is this why I have been unable to get on Dakka all morning?

However, I like this idea - I think that collecting data on use is very wise before implementing any "follow up" features, such as "most exalted" posts/thread lists etc.

I think it will be great for PLogs so you can see the great threads that people are posting as other users rate them.

Edit: Though I can apparently exalt my own posts - I don't know if "self likes" count towards anything though

Nice addition, however as it has already be mentioned the exalted buttons should be placed somewhere else, to avoid accidents.

A single tier of subscriptions isn't really adequate for this task. There are threads where you'd like to know if anyone posts something new, and there are threads you'd like to be able to return to in a year's time. The former quickly drowns out the latter, especially since you can't remove more than one subscription at a time.

An interesting feature for sure though as already stated, a "better" place for the button, or possible a "Confirm" window would help reducing accidental clicks.

Could you add an "Exalt" feature for the gallery??? Lately I was searching for reference Nemissary's pics, but couldn't recall his name... So had to burrow through the gallery with "Nurgle" as the only tag to ease my pain...
It would've helped if I had Exalted those pics (and/or, gallery)...

Other than this, I have to admit I'm quite dubious about that feature (as I follow the threads I like thanks to "Subscribing"), but, you know... whaddeva... (and there was a wave of users asking for a "Like button" a few months back, so I guess it'll see some success!)
And who knows, I might find it useful someday!

Must've been a pain to install, so congrats for the work anyway, thanks for constantly trying to improve Dakka...

I've now updated the 'my exalted threads' list feature to allow you to remove threads from the list. This will not un-exalt them, but it will hide them from your view in that list, allowing threads to retain their exalts and allowing you to have a neat and tidy list if you want one like that.

Exalted gallery images are planned to a point - at least a 'my favourites' gallery, but it will be tied in to the voting process most likely as well (so you'll only be able to exalt/favourite an image after you've voted on it). That is quite a long way off though as there is a lot of gallery stuff to do before then.

This is awesome! Adding exalt to the gallery eventually, depending on howall this goes, is a good idea, too

I Like it, a couple of things though;

If you remove something from your Exalted threads page can you get it back? I assume that as it is just hidden and still technically Exalted that the Exalt button won't work.

Are you planing on adding an "Exalted Threads" link to the profile page so you can see what others have Exalted?

The button placement isn't great but I suppose I will get used to it.

A similar feature in the gallery would be awesome

You can re-exalt if you have removed it. It will say 'already exalted' but will re-add it to your exalted thread list.

I'll probably get round to adding it to the profile page for everyone, but have to make a few extra changes to facilitate that first.

Let's remove the ability to exalt one's own threads/posts, no complaints other than that.

Think it would be nice to see an exalt counter in the profile or something. Similar to the Gallery votes metadata element.

This. Also, perhaps, a 'Most Exhalted Threads' box on the main page?

This might come, but it would also encourage people posting more spam requesting exalts which would lead to more mod work smacking them down. I want to see how it is used and abused for a few months first before I start showing people exalt totals for themselves.

Popsicle wrote:Also, perhaps, a 'Most Exhalted Threads' box on the main page?

This is planned, pending genuinely good threads being the ones that get exalted. It goes without saying that such a feature would filter out non-wargaming stuff from video games, OT, etc.

Well then, can we rename the mod alert button the smite button? The current one doesn't make me feel nervous enough.

Amusing, but I think the alert button gives the right idea, the smite button doesn't.
