The Chaplain's weapon does look painfully large, although I totally get where you're coming from with it. Have you considered trying to use one of the Dark Angel icons you get for powerpacks?

Something like these: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?start=124&hl=en&sa=X&tbo=d&rlz=1C1AVSC_enGB449GB465&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbnid=SkgFWKFWZZCK1M:&imgrefurl=http://www.ebay.com/itm/Space-Marine-Dark-Angel-Ravenwing-Large-Icons-bits-/280833164914&docid=1FpC0BFnTefLCM&itg=1&imgurl=http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Space-Marine-Dark-Angel-Ravenwing-Large-Icons-bits-/00/s/NzY4WDEwMjQ%253D/%2524(KGrHqJHJBYE9BQIjohjBPR9Q,gJ-Q~~60_35.JPG&w=300&h=225&ei=o8TVUIHVLq6o0AX_tYDYBw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=1085&vpy=103&dur=1121&hovh=180&hovw=240&tx=207&ty=94&sig=106109257303434759811&page=5&tbnh=138&tbnw=182&ndsp=33&ved=1t:429,r:47,s:100,i:145

You could mount one at end of a length of tubing perhaps. Or alternatively shorten the length of your current one to make it look more combat worthy.

Great concept for Telion! You could place a rifle across the concrete at his feet rather than mount it on his body? For officer status perhaps a blinged up pistol, holster or knife?

Thanks for the feedback, folks! I've taken everyone's council into consideration (plus that of several friends IRL), and am going to fix the Chaplain's weapon. I'm not completely sure what I'm going to do, but I'm leaning towards simply shortening it, because I'm rather fond of the bulky, flanged mace look.

On to some more WIP photos!

This time, it's a kit-bashed Assault Squad! This squad is an interesting project to me. When I first became curious in 40k, I purchased a lot of second-hand models from dakka's swap forum. They were rather ugly. They were statically posed Tactical Marines, with plastic cement marks and mold lines showing everywhere. Once I realized I was more interested in painting and modeling, I quickly shelved them, because marines with bolters attached are impossible to paint to my personal standards.

Fast forward over two years, and I'd purchased a large bitz box on the dakka swap meet that contained a plethora of chainswords, bolt pistols, and jump packs. After several weeks of frustrated clipping, sawing, filing, gluing, and greenstuffing, I present to you my magnetized 10 man Assault Squad, just minutes before being spray primed. I hope you enjoy the motley array of colors and bitz. Canny observers will note the appearance of the AoBR sergeant's chainsword arm, with the tactical squad arrow filed off. That was silly. The one bloke without a bolt pistol is awaiting a flamer once his chest is painted.

In addition, I just made this shelf using $6 worth of wood and brackets. It looks like crap, but I'm probably moving in 5 months, and it only needs to clean up my craft desk until then. Yes, I apparently have a love for brown tones.

My counts-as Sgt. Telion conversion is coming along nicely. I'm almost done, once the superglue dries, he needs a bit more filing and green stuffing on one of his shoulder straps. But I was getting impatient about showing him off, so here he is!

Brother-Captain Seneca of the 10th Flight, Master of Recruits:

For those of you who are into Malifaux, I recently started work on the "Born on the Bayou" box set. Here's Francois LaCroix, all painted up. He needs basing, which I need to figure out how to do.

Finally, here is my Hobby Nook, cleaned, organized, and ready for painting!

Comments and Criticism welcome!

Here is the finished model for Captain Seneca, captain of the 10th Parliament and Master of Recruits for the Brotherhood of the Rook. I wanted to give the model the appearance to using his "Voice of Experience" ability, giving a brief lesson on xenos killing to the novices and scouts he traubs. This update is cross-posted in the "Painting and Modeling Showcase" forum, I hope that's allowed. C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking!

I was starting to get bored of painting the same thing over and over. Also, I know a lot of more of the fluff now than when I started this army. In that time, I've grown to love the quartered-paint scheme Space Marine factions. I had a Command Squad box I've been waiting to start, so I figured why not do the Veterans of my chapter using the yellow and blue of my chapter but QUARTERED instead of yellow-dominant?

Fluff-wise, I can't decide whether all veterans of my chapter will wear the quartered scheme or not. I'm leaning towards making it part of a special honor society within my chapter. Battle brothers not in the society would wear the normal yellow-dominated scheme. Members of the order, second class, would wear a halved yellow and blue scheme, and the truly elite members of the society, first class, would wear the scheme quartered.

So here he is: Brother Altair, Second Company Command Squad and Order of Carina, Second Class.

Sorry, the photos are quick and dirty, so the lighting is a bit off. I'm posting because I'm a bit flummoxed as what to do next. I'm not happy with the plasma gun. I think I'm going to try some grayscale NMM on the plasma gun's muzzle. The plasma chamber isn't bright enough. Doesn't look right to me. I feel like he needs more "bling" to earn his chops as a veteran. Any ideas?

I haven't posted in a while, I experienced a bit of painter burn-out for a month or two.

I've had this guy primed and waiting to be painted for a long time now. It's a work in progress. The basic idea is there, but I've still got a few hours worth of detail work to fiddle with. I also need to layer up the highlights on the blue armor parts. C&C greatly appreciated!

I've always wanted to build a Deathwatch Kill-Team composed of all different Chapters to use as a Sternguard Squad in-game. Gitsplitta's Mantis Maker Challenge gives me an excellent excuse to start!

I'm trying to clear my desk of WIPs so I can concentrate on Gitsplitta's Mantis Maker contest.

Here are some quick-and-dirty WIP shots of some scouts I've been working on. Comments and criticism welcome and appreciated.

I like the yellow/blue scheme you have going there. I like the idea of the halved and then quartered scheme as the progress in rank will make a nice looking army.

Look forward to what you will do with the mantis.

Thanks for the kind words, Dr. H!

Speaking of which, here's a Mantis Maker update! The main body has only been base coated and washed. It kind of looks like gak at the moment, but I wanted to give an idea of my interpretation of their color scheme and heraldry. I realized that the competition is as much about building an interesting and unique model as it is a good paint job, so I'm working on some small things to spice it up a bit. I made a bayonet for the bolter out of one of those useless combat knives in the tactical squad box. I may do some modification work on the backpack still, I'm working on some ideas.

More Scouts WIP photos. I'm working on my non-metallic metals. Any feedback? I'm not sure how I feel about it right now.

Thank you!

This is my first attempt at NMM. I tried to do it on the bolt pistols as well, but it didn't turn out very well. I'm most happy with the NMM on the guy with the visor. Strangely he was also the first one I did. Alas. Hopefully I'll improve.

Well, it's been a while since I last posted.

I'm still trudging along with my Space Marines, but 40k has fallen out of favor in my area I also wasn't really painting much over the past year. But now I'm back at it!

And this time, with the Warmachine, Retribution of Scryah!

C&C appreciated!

Deeply embedded in this Retribution of Scyrah project. Just finished a massive push, producing 25 infantry figures. Here are the officers.

It's been almost 4 years since I last worked on my Space Marine army. Here is their newest member, Brother-Captain Martis, commander of the 7th Reserve Brotherhood!
