Come on USA pull it out and torpedo to victory.

THEY HAVE SOME OF THE BEST 40K PLAYERS i have ever met on that team, they can pull it off.

Good job there Capt. America, keep setting the example for your crew and im sure they will pull it off.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's all about the matchups babay. BTW is Ben Mohile the best 40k player in the world or what.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After watching Ben play twice I can say I think he is one of the most tactical people I have ever seen play the game and I really want to play him some time in a tournament.

good luck USA im pulling for you.

The u.s. will not win but second or third place is well within reach.

Germany tanked and lost to Sweden, but USA is still in 4th place after beating France.

They need a win against England and they should place in the top 3.

By the way, it is in interesting American cultural phenomenon where we only concern ourselves with coming in first place. Most of the other countries placing on the podium (top 3) is considered excellent.

I find this strange as well. Was the expectation that the U.S. would win? Now that's hubris. It's only the second year that the U.S. has sent a team.

Quoted for accuracy; it is a cultural phenomenon....

Well, when you are removed from a competition (you don't follow it closely, and it doesn't really affect you as a gamer), coming in 3rd is not really noteworthy. Don't get me wrong - it is a great achievement, but moreso for those close to the team, or those with investments in the placing itself. Coming in first, everyone remembers, even those that are removed from the tournament scene or those that don't really care about the tournament otherwise.

It may be an American phenomenon, or it may simply be a human phenomenon. Can you tell me (without looking it up), the team that placed 3rd in a major sporting event from two years ago? From the Olympics? Who got 3rd in Gymnastics two years ago? You probably could if the team was close to you (your team or the team that you pull for). Maybe you can anyway because you remember things like that well. All I remember from College Football last year was Auburn winning the National Championship. I have no idea who was 3rd in the AP behind them.

You're suggesting that they shouldn't go, hoping - or even expecting - to win? Then why go?

Just had a quick look at the Tyranid list for team USA..

Today I noticed something I've overlooked on the entry for the Tervigon; you must take either crushing claws or scything talons, cheapest being the latter at 5 points.

(Thread I made the point in: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/391197.page)

This would make the usual cost of a Toxin/adrenal/Cata Tervi at 200. He's priced all three at 195.

Can anyone confirm that he's priced these wrong? (I'm a touch ill at the moment and could have easily made a mistake).

*EDIT*

Every 'Nid list I see it's priced without them; something I'm not aware of?

The entry in totality reads

OPTIONS:
Take one of the following:

->I am under the assumption that if something is listed under the heading of options that you do not have to take it, otherwise it is not an option.

(Just checked on Army Builder and they have it as an option as well)

I assume they went, like every other team, hoping to do their very best.

Magilla, home nations are the UK countries, not the home nation. (I think)

In 40K:
#7 Wales
#8 England
#16 Scotland
#20 N. Ireland

In WFB:
#16 England
#20 Scotland
#23 N. Ireland
#27 Wales

I am curious if Tony(USA) was the youngest player there. I also am curious how he did round to round. I talked to Cole after Tony and him fought for the top table at Adepticon, and he said Tony was the best player he ever faced. That being said I think Darth has a point about Ben as well. I would really like to see a break down round to round, Team america players, armies they faced, and who won. Don know if its possible, but someone posted it after the round vs. Germ.

Ohh Yeah, and Congratz USA.

The picasa link on the first page has photos of results sheets from each round with pairings. Last time I looked I think Ben was undefeated and Tony had a loss or two.

You certainly can break down how each player did, but the factor that you do not know about is who gets to be put out there for a pairing, and who gets to go up against a bad match-up.

You have players who get sent out first and their opponents get to pick the army that they think will match up the best against them and those armies will always not do as well as the armies that react to the armies that their opponents put forward.

If you look at the score sheets posted on picasa, you can tell the order they were matched up in. Example:It will say under the U.S. team numers 1,4,5,8, etc. The other team will be the opposite (2,3,6,7, etc.) So the U.S. puts up number 1, they react and match them up with 2, then they put up 3 and the US reacts with 4.

Yeah I get that part of it Blackmoor, but I think it would be interesting to see nonetheless on how folks did, and what armies they faced. Im a 40k junkee what can I say.

Hah i know what you mean Norbu, it would be cool of a full 6 round List vs list outcome. We could do it, but, I dont have that much patience. All the lists are online, along with the matchups for each round. Just need someone to do the legwork...I vote..blackmoor
