Ive never read a data sheet on it, although I have used it for codicies, and reading in general it works quite well.

If you have the hardcopy you're legally allowed a digital one.

Ultimately, when I get my android tab I'll be putting my codexes and rulebook on there, I'll have faqs etc and I'll have my Extended codex in there too.

For note-taking, rules etc it's a great tool.

This depends on the country and is far from a settled issue.

that being said there are legally downloadable codexes out there, they're just in Japanese.

What about an app that short hands combat and shooting? Check it:

You input your army list, with all wargear included, and you input your opponents army list with wargear again (these could actually be traded by "bump"). Then when say my 20 man boyz squad with PK nob charges that unit of 10 tactical marines, it will say what I need to roll to hit, wound, and armor saves and give me initiative order. You then tell ipad how many units died on either side, it says who won combat, and with what leadership modifier their test is on. Basically this app would track the progress of the game, and shorten things for you.

Of course this would never happen, because it would require accessing all of the 40k rulebook+ all the codices. And GW wouldn't let that happen.

How well can you read it on the Ipad? I'm torn between an Ipad and a jumbo sized kindel.

I've read PDFs of Rogue Trader and the Eclipse Phase RPG on my iPod touch. It's not painless (lots of scrolling and double-tap to zoom to column width) but doable. I'd rather have the printed copy, but since they're games I don't actually play, this'll do.

The iPad has a larger display, of course, as well as having a quality PDF viewer (with options if you don't like the included one). I don't know how the Kindle's PDF viewer is. I assume it's improved from the first version, which I think converted PDFs to an different format.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

Go for the iPad, or a color Nook, if you've got anything outside of an ebook format.. the scalable color screens, beat e-ink for pdfs, esp with illustrations..

<Rarity> I am not whining, I am complaining! Do you want to hear whining?

Thiiis is whiiiiining! Oooo, this mini is too expeennsive! I'm' going brrookee! Can't you make it cheaper? Oh, it's resin and not metal anymore! Why didn't you take it off the sprue first? That's gonna leave a pour spout, and the FLGS is so far away, WHY DO I HAVE TO SUPPORT IIIIIIIT?! </Rairty>

Go for an android pad.. it's insanely cheaper and does the same stuff... plus free apps.

The ipad is a good tool for both FAQs and Army lists. I have had several opponents bring their ipad to tournaments with their list in PDF form. I am generally in favor of anything that lightens my load and the number of papers I am carrying around. If I could get legal PDF versions of all the codices I would buy an ipad tomorrow. That being said the ipad with PDF army lists can't nor should it replace paper copies for all your opponents at a tournament.

I have the Nook Color and my wife and I love it. It is a great platform and relatively inexpensive.
