I dunno about that, half way up the front at the side there is what looks like a pivot point.
I can see the front panel folding over the rams in a drawbridge kinda fashion?
Panic...
The original had something like that too with a wierd series of circular beams on rails under an armor plate. The new one looks even more like a wheelchair lift on a bus so I suspect the assault ramp won't be a problem. As for converting a twin heavy bolter, I think that should be pretty darn easy to put on up on the multimelta cupola mounting.
This new version does appear to have the overall shape and size does seem to match the current LR instead of the original's.

Sorry, I'll add a little dose of negativity to balance it out:
Hey all you Forge World fans heading to Games Day Oz. Looking forward to buying a bunch of FW stuff direct rather than ordering it? Well get ready for the extra special GDOZ price increases! That's right, as a direct 'screw you' to all the Aussie fans (as if we hadn't taken it up the back passage enough this year), all FW items at the show will be more expensive than their listed price on the FW website. It's like they've gone and included the shipping already... even though you're not having it shipped to you... and in fact paid $75 for a ticket to stand in line to be charged more for shipping you're not getting.
Being an Aussie 40K player is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enough sarcasm for ya?

How about some classic wave serpents, FW? I keed. Seriously, as much as I love the old LRfor its time and place, I cannot see spending FW prices for old timey stuff.

Well if you're able to find the old kit, or even the assembled model, it will be at least $100 from what I have seen. For a few bucks more you get a newer sculpt and resin casting.
The price is bad honestly.... but that does not mean that I won't pick one up.

I would not buy an old LR for $100 whether used or new. I like them a lot but it's just way, way too much -- for me to pay, of course. Zei gesunt to everyone in the throws of nostalgia.
So is the dark eldar tantalus a limited edition model? It says in the email it will be available in limited numbers at gamesday UK. Does that mean i have to get someone to buy one for me there or will they be a production model at a later date?

It means that they will have a limited amount of them available at GDUK.
They do not do large kits like the Tantalus as "event only". They are just going to be available prior to the release there, in limited quantities.

It's a production model that's going to have limited preview purchase quantities as GDUK.

Hallowed is the All Pie The Before Times: A Place That Celebrates The World That Was
Whew.. thanks guys. I was really worried about paying $134 for a limited edition model that I wouldn't even get to use very much. Im getting a feeling that the tantalus will be like a dark eldar Caestus assault ram though, anyone else get that impression?
I like the Dark Eldar Tantalus (not that I use Dark Eldar) but a MK1 Land Raider for £80? What is the point? You can pick these up on e-bay for around half that price! They'd have spent there time better doing something new. Having said that I think it looks a bit better than the original (which I still have two of), but I'm afraid it's too expensive to tempt me.
Glad I sold my older land raider a few months ago, with this kit out anybody wanting to build hersey era armies will be placated. I still prefer the bloodandskullsindustries version over this any day.

I'm glad they redid a 20 year old shoebox instead of producing a tervigon or mycetic spore. Apparently there are more millionaire space marine players then tyranid players of any trax bracket.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?
This is a bad thread and you should all feel bad
And heaven forbid they should come up with a nice new Chaos LR varient. Instead lets wheel out YET ANOTHER loyalist LR pattern. Whats that, 8 or 9 now?
DE ship, fantastic! A great combo of sleek, spikey goodness, with a bit of power thrown in the mix. The LR, seems like they stuck a little too close to the original GW design and did not add enough 'new' detail to it. Nonetheless, I can see this being a fairly good seller despite its overpricing, I need more pics to make my mind up about it tbh.

Statistically the odds of there being millionaire space marine players is high just by virtue of the space marine fan base being that much larger. Over 60% of GW's fanbase are Space Marines players. Considering the world population and the number of millionaires in the world 1/200 people playing 40k are millionaires or in the household of a millionaire; GW's demographic focus on affluent parts of the world only heightens that likely hood.
Instead of being happy that FW decided to release the Dark Eldar Tantalus making this more than just marines... there is cup half empty and there is cup half full... and then there are those who piss in everyone's cup.

So at $126 US... I don't understand the point. People can say they will purchase it for memories of the 90's. Isn't $126 roughtly the cost for GW Landraiders at present? I'd rather have 2 landraiders vs 1.
I still remember the tan Beakies, and the 2 Land Raiders in 1 kit. I was insanely jealous as I struggled to build and carry around my all Metal Eldar army. Also the original Space Orks and Squats.

Here the complete newsletter (please update the title of this thread:
Hi there,
In this week’s newsletter we can announce two more Games Day UK exclusive pre-release items that will be on sale in limited numbers, well in advance of their scheduled release date…
Dark Eldar Tantalus
First crafted, so it is said, for the Archon Surasis Grief of the Kabal of the Dark Mirror, the Dark Eldar Tantalus is an assault skimmer, somewhat larger and more complex in design than the Raider, and accordingly better armed. Its distinctive twin-hulled design houses powerful engine-reactors slaved to enhanced drives and its unique scythevane armament.
One of the largest Dark Eldar vehicles yet encountered by the Imperial war machine, the cruel reavers who crew this sleek engine of destruction take delight in mounting high-speed attacks, slicing through the hulls of enemy vehicles and rending infantry into crimson shreds, heralded by the screech of the molecular dissonance fields of its scythevanes and the rapid fire of its pulse-disintegrator armament.
The Tantelus, designed by Daren Parrwood, is a detailed full resin kit that includes a set of etched brass deck panels. Measuring nearly 11” from prow to stern, this twin-hulled vehicle is a great addition to any Dark Eldar army. With its full rules contained within the forthcoming Imperial Armour Apocalypse Second Edition, the Tantalus will be available in limited numbers from the Forge World Sales stand at Games Day UK, priced £85.
Land Raider Proteus
The Land Raider is perhaps the most iconic of all Imperial armoured vehicles. Its distinctive silhouette is recognisable to foe and ally alike, announcing the indomitable presence of the Adeptus Astartes, the heroic and super-human Space Marines. Many patterns and designs of this honoured and ancient war machine exist across the myriad worlds of the Imperium, and among the oldest of such designs is the Land Raider Proteus.
Mechanicus tech-savants believe that the Land Raider Proteus is a precursor to the Phobos pattern vehicle now found amongst the armouriums of the Adeptus Astartes. Bulkier and faster than the Phobos, ancient and forgotten data-looms describe the Proteus as a forward assault vehicle, commonly fielded in Explorator missions during the dawning days of Mankind’s fledgling galactic empire.
This full resin kit, designed by Phil Stutcinskas, is packed with some amazing details and two different hull-mounted weapon options to supplement its twin-linked sponson-mounted lascannons. Available for the first time in limited numbers at Games Day UK, the Land Raider Proteus is priced at £80.
Games Day UK Seminars and Reservations
Tony Cottrel will be hosting a couple of Seminars during the day. To get tickets for the Seminars follow the signs to the Westside restaurant and you wil find the Seminar room. The tickets are limited to one per person on a first come first served basis. The seminars are limited to 142 seats each so it is best to get there early to avoid disappointment.
Sadly we can no longer accept reservations for Games Day. Reservations this year will not be held at the Forge World sales stand but will have their own area next to the recruitment stand in the main foyer.
