I've never played it and few people around here are interested, but I would get a Space Hulk-style BB release in a heartbeat. It would be worth it even just for the unique character models. If I could get some games in, even better.

Blood Bowl looks very interesting, its a good way to use up left over minis and bits.
And it sure looks refreshing compared to the usual grim dark!

With the LRB6.0 available for free from the actual playing community who keep the game alive despite GWs efforts - why would I ever want to pay for the rules?
Could someone pop a link to these gaming community rules into the thread?
@ Luna - I fear that any Blood Bowl re-release would be peppered with skulls, thus becoming grimdark

He might mean this, which AFAIK is the most up-to-date version of the rules (but without the fluff).

Keeping it realistic, I think my preferred approach would be a box set containing two teams with 15-16 individually sculpted players per side (and a few bonus miniatures like a referee and cheerleaders). This would be followed by 6 additional boxed teams with enough for 12 players, but customisable so you could easily expand your team with a second box.
Entering dream land, a batch of star players would also be released using the plastic blister method proving popular in Fantasy together with some big guys too (done in finecast if absolutely necessary)
So...
The Big Box with two complete teams - Humans and Orcs
6 separate team box sets - Skaven, Elves (no great need to distinguish between good & bad Elves, but they could always add spiky bits to the sprue for this purpose), Chaos, Undead, Dwarfs and Lizardmen
10 Star Player Plastic Blisters and 6 Big Guy Finecast Blisters
The only downside with this approach is that it stamps all over the work done by the Blood Bowl community, but I do feel it would be immensely popular and a license to print money.

I wouldn't buy blood bowl. I still remember my first(and only) blood bowl game. When i didn't even know any of the rules or even had an introductory game i was put up a against someone who clearly knew how to play. I set up my team not knowing where to put the players, or maybe the red shirt placed them for me? While my opponent placed 2 rat ogres down one flank! I knew from that point i was screwed. I don't remember how the game turned out but i imagine it didn't go well.... I think i was probably playing humans!?
The main reason i wouldn't buy BB id because its a sports game. I hate playing football on the xbox and even rugby games. But i have a season ticket to saracens and enjoy watching football when i get the chance. Plus i can go out and play sport in real life but i can"t command a army of nurgle zombie's 40,000 years in the future!

I love the game and would buy a shiny new version of it - I would hope they got rid of the absolutely stupid and annoying - "Oh you forgot to move the turn counter thingy - turnover"
I hate that rule and if still in would just have to ignore it...........
some new referee and cheerleader minis would be fun

Also a fun way to get Warhammer fans to consider football, I'd wager.
Seems like nobody bothers mentioning specialist games unless they're rabid fans (not terribly surprising). Even taking that into account, BB seems to be perhaps the single most highly recommended game GW has ever put out. I've even heard rave reviews from avid boardgamers who have no ties to GW or the miniature/wargaming world. If I had money to spend on gaming, I'd strongly consider putting it towards an updated BB release, if I could afford it (based off the last two boxed games released, I'm not confident that I could ).

Ah, Illegal Procedure - aka, "Thou shalt remember to obey the most basic of rules, fool!"
I can see why it would be annoying if you get caught up in the moment, but how hard is it to take two seconds to move a counter along a square before diving in? Use it as a mental pause for breath before doing anything.
I did spend one game rigidly enforcing that rule, as my opponent was notoriously bad at remembering to move his turn or reroll counters appropraitely - I think I caught him in six out of eight turns in the first half, by which point he figured it out, and didn't have to be reminded again...

I'm probably going to buy BB no matter what. I came into GW games around the time Man O' War was still on the shelves and somehow I missed out on BB. I've wanted to play it all these years, so finally getting a new set will be amazing.

Reasons I hate it
When you are first learnig the game it is an incredably harsh penalty and can spoil games as it has nothing to do with the actual game - in contrast to your example above at last one club member I know was caught out several times in his first game and has now no interest in it
It promotes trying to catch your opponent out in something which has asolutely no importance in the game - at our club players tend to remind people if they forget things - even in 40k etc - this rule promotes and encourages the opposite
The game can be win or lost on a minor thing that has nothing to do with the actual game play.
It adds nothing to the game except the ability to ruin the flow and potentially create bad feelings between players
IMO It should have been an optional rule for expereinced players

This is probably why when my friends got into Blood Bowl the policy was 'remind, but don't punish' on this kind of thing unti we were ready to do a league.

It has a great deal of importance! It's the timer for the game!
Mr Morden wrote:

it's a game that is a British parody of American football. I'm American and I think there's a lot of petty bureaucracy to real football. I can't fault a game that also tries to simulate crowd weirdness and the 'metagame' of professional sports having something picky like this.
Mr Morden wrote:

Or, as my friends do, it's a "league" rule.
To be honest, Blood Bowl is a definite non-Euro Game in that it has a lot of fiddly rules for little edge cases. This is also pretty accurate to the source inspiration, though.
