Not very well, more like being able to launch itself after stuff it wants to eat. Automatically Appended Next Post: RatBot wrote:Seeing these larger pictures, nothing here is particularly bad. The skulls on the Ghorgon are a bit over the top, but then again, these are Warhammer minis.
Remember that the Ghorgon is probably as close to a physical embodiment of Khorne as you can get in Warhammer fantasy without being a Bloodthirster. I do agree that the skulls are a little bit over the top, and I will probably leave some of them off, but I still like the overall feel of the model. It could be a little bit more beefy though, as it actually has the statline to support it. I at least know I will greenstuff some extra mouths on the legs and/or belly to make it look more mutated and sinister, like the art in the armybook described.

When they divorced, he had to move out of GW.
But seriously, I'd like to know that too.
I'll probably skip the plastic hugemen, but get the Jabberslythe. Since it's finecast, fixing the pseudo fur will be easy and it's an otherwise great looking model.

Nothing here that would bring me back to Fantasy, and I am starting to wonder if Trish is trying anymore, seems she has lost her way when sculpted beasts of late.
I know a couple of folks like it, but I really can't stand the not-jabberwocky thing she has created.
I think the best model for me is the Cygor, just like it for some reason.

That Nurgle mount is a great idea by the way MGS, even though I'm not a fan of the model, I could see it with a Nurgle Chaos Lord on the back.
I'd have liked it to have lost a few pounds to use as its current model though, seems too thick in places, well to me anyways. Maybe I'm being influenced by the Terry Gilliam film.

I actually quite like all the models. Don't love them, but they're good.
It seems to me, and I don't know if it is just me, but most of the latest Warhammer large kits seem to look really square and cubic recently, even if they are not, I can't put my finger on what it is - maybe the lines are too hard. The Jabberslyth to a certain extent, definitely the doombull, but I also thought the big new ogre monsters (thundertusk) were as well.

1) The model matchs the stature set by the artwork in the book. The Ghorgon is a big ol 4 armed goon with hooks/cleavers and he's got horns and he eats people as he rampages around like he got into Chris Benoits private anabolics stash. The CyGor is a one eyed minotaur thing that throws a big rock. The proportions are decent. The models have character, The Jabberslythe is just bloody nuts.
That said, if the Banebeasts stuff floats your boat better, go for it. Find the model you like and make it yours. If you want to talk about nothing but GW 'hate' vs 'apology', go find a thread in the OT forum, I'm sure you can dig one up.
For those of you who have already posted 4 or 5 times in this 2 page thread, give it up. You said your piece, now move on. I will consider it flaming if you keep coming back to re-iterate your off topic points.
Talk about the models please, or the rules. Warnings will now begin to flow in earnest otherwise.

My biggest beef with the Cygor is that the design doesn't fit the lore. A Cygor can't see the material world, so it has trouble finding conventional prey. A minotaur might club a bear and bite it's head off, but the Cygor can barely even see the bear unless it's a magic bear. Their chief form of sustenance is the souls of those who wield magic.
Therefore unlike the Ghorgon which is constantly devouring anything it can find, the Cygor should be emaciated or at the very least thin. GW by giving these two models a shared kit has created a model that doesn't really fit either.
Mangler squigs look pretty good, but sculpting them in failcast is well, a giant fail. I'm not sure there's much in the new rulebook that will call me back to WHFB.

I neither love nor hate the new Beastie models. I do hate GWS right now, though. The campaign book is limited time? I really want it, but I couldn't afford it without taking money out of savings (don't like!), I'd be really bummed to miss out on it though, as my gaming group has been aching for a "siege" type of game for Fantasy.
But forget everything but the book! The megaforces are $215, seriously GWS, are you trying to get my girlfriend to kill me? I'm seriously tempted to take money out for that, I thought it was going to be at least fifty dollars more. I highly doubt it, but does anyone know if they'll be available through the warstore?

Blood in the Badlands also features the tale of eight intrepid hobbyists as they play the campaign, including detailed battle reports, glorious army showcases and turn-by-turn accounts of their expanding empires.
This 96-page full-colour hardback Warhammer Supplement contains rules for siege battles in Warhammer, underground battles, new scenarios, magic items and Cataclysm spells. It also has a full set of rules that can be used with the Mighty Empires expansion set.
You will need a copy of Warhammer to use the contents of this book.

The bit about the Mighty Empires rules is particularly interesting, not to mention timely, as we are in the process of getting a ME campaign going at the FLGS.
Definitely getting this. Even if it is obviously just a ploy by GW to sell old siege towers and fortress kits, right?

Fair enough. The jabberslythe also bothers me the least out of all of them, my only real problem there being the scales like I mentioned. I don't like how GW puts out kits like this that look like they're supposed to have scales, but don't because they couldn't be bothered to tediously make all of them, so they compromise by making little scale patches and saying "You get the idea! Where's our money?"
I understand why they would do that, though. They only have so many sculptors, and each one likely has a ton of projects they're working on at the same time, with strict deadlines to meet. That right there probably explains why we're getting so many sub-par kits (or at least in my opinion they're sub-par). I just wanted to get that out of the way so people will know that I understand corporate is asking their sculptors for a lot. That said though, GW should probably get a few more sculptors if getting these things out quickly is such a high priority: lessen the burden on the ones they have and give us better kits as a result, hopefully. And I think that's probably what they're doing, since one of the sculptors working on the Maelstrom Banebeasts got hired by GW recently, along with one of the former Rackham sculptors if I'm not mistaken (or were they the same guy?).
As for the ghorgon I'm starting to think most of the problems I have with the kit are probably due more to the limitations of making it a 2-in-1 with the cygor. The cygor looks a little better in the 360 view, but the ghorgon just looks a bit odd with the extra arms tacked on and no other noticeable "bulk" to go with it (and the pot belly is still weird in my opinion...especially the fact that it looks like it still has muscle sculpted on it and that makes no sense). Although the minotaur heads I'm still not fond of, and I still think they go way overboard on skulls (which is a point I think I'm forced to concede because it's what GW does and they will only get worse apparently). Not to say that I don't like skull trophies or anything, I think they're awesome and for an army like Beastmen I'd be surprised if there weren't any, but I think it's going a little too far when you have a complete skeleton tangled up in a monster's fur, really. :\
Hopefully this post is still considered on-topic and mostly non-confrontational, I'm trying to tone things down a bit. On an off-topic note though, does it mean I'm going to hell if I laugh at Chris Benoit jokes?
