I think he's suggesting that the people that go nuts at these Black friday sales do so because of sugar induced rage and desperation.

Actually I think everyone so use to consumer product its a everyday norm. "Status symbols" though is everyone perception of an item. I have a Xbox360, PS3 and a WII. Some people will try to beat me in game systems either by games or the add on gear for either system. I don't care but a lot of people do care.

I'd imagine it's to do with the killings in Coke's facilities in Columbia a few years ago but I could be wrong.

Coca-Cola in infamous for purchasing many of the ingredients for its products from, shall we say, oppressive suppliers. The point being that you probably don't put that high a price on human life, only human life that you are immediately exposed to.

Wow. Who knew that black friday would be offically been known as idiot day. It even suprises me more why people don't shop online i mean seriously I press 3 buttons I wait 3 days and i have it. Its not as bad as its being made out to be. People die everyday driving to and from work. Are you not going to work or drive a car? Its all silly media and melodrama.

This all hype. I go Black Friday shopping every year. In the past 10 years of being married I have yet to see any of these incidents. For the most part people are friendly, drinking coffee and conversing. I have seen my share of line cutters and before I could bad mouth them the cops were working with the security to pull them out of the line and removed from the property. These events are generally well organised as the store is taking a huge risk as they are liable for any inccidents that occur.

These events have to be few and far between. My buddy's been going to these things for years now, and the worst I've heard of were once this year when a customer fired off a BB gun at the Wal-Mart I work at (don't ask me how, it was just something someone mentioned in passing), and at the local Best Buy, the police had to get involve when there was a heated discussion over who was first in line.

I'm just glad that my Black Friday shopping generally consists of Steam sales, so there's nothing worse than waiting out crowded servers and slow downloads.
