As I understood it the Xbox 360 orignal RROD problem was caused because heat built up, that would cause the mainboard to warp/bow.

The solder was lead free and so would not flex much so after this happening enough times the solder would shatter and off went the RROD

The Xbox 360 had (might still have) a three year warantee against RROD errors.

Does the PS3 offer anything like this?

Modern consoles get hotter and they have hard disks in them.

Because more transistors means more electricity is being used and that energy is dissipated as heat.
