it's a good list, but I would consider merging the 2 warrior squads together, 5 warriors won't last lond on their own!

Thank you for doing something other than green on the Necrons. I love the shade of blue you're using. I think it definately fits with the metallic color you've chosen.

Looking very nice, as ever! You have done blue-gauss Necrons much justice, it seems. The blue rods you converted are starting to grow on me a bit.
And I see you have named your Overlord and the Dynasty he comes from. That part of the hobby is always a fun spot for me.
Keep it up!

I always wanted to do subtle conversions in my army and this I think is as good as any. but thank you for the kind words.

Good to see to you posting again Dr.Temujin as we could all use a dose of your optimism, I'm not very skilled in story telling but I hope to kind of develop some back story.

Thanks again everyone for posting and I have a small sneak peak.

That’s a fine start to a good army. I look forward to seeing more of your work finished. The pictures make it a little hard to tell, but it looks like you have a good paint job on the Necrons and the basing looks great. I think it’s always a smart move to start out with a 500 point list, and then do your best to not start another project until they are all ready to play.

I do plan on getting a proper light box together to take pictures, as of now I just plan on getting the points done. I plan to start with 500, then increase by 250 increments each time. That way it keeps it small and enjoyable

I don't know if it's universally known in the English language, but it is generally considered to be a negative phrase that suggests letting loose of a secret or plan. I used it sarcastically here, as you had previously shown us the models base, and hinted at what it could be, but not actually shown it! I try to say something different than "good work" or "keep it up" all the time but yeah, keep it up!

Ahh my apologies when I read it I had just woken up and I mistook it for "split" not "spilt"

That is of course if I can get it to go as planned. Still some techniques I am having trouble with, BUT ill have another hard go at it tomorrow and we shall see how it comes out. They only new thing today is I got more paint on it and built my 5 immortals, those are to be painted after the barge.

Looks great!

What process/colors do you use for your bases? They look really good.

The base is liberally coated with Foundation: Calthan brown. Then washed, again liberally, 1-2 times with badab black. The highlight is done with Tallarn flesh; drybrushed generously.

Colors:
Calthan brown
Badab Black
Tallarn flesh

Process:
Base
wash

Its fine the plastic is not too heavy for it. the base seats deep as well so its not like it just sits on the initial peg.

Good to see a Necron thread where there are conversions, they are subtle yet well done, the paint scheme is different yet works and where the weathering stays true to the old style Necrons without being simplistic.

subbed and looking forward to seeing how you finish the barge.

I am excited as well to see how it comes out. It looks like I still have a lot of work to get done on it yet. Good observations and well I can not wait to get a lych/prae box to make some lords I dont have such as Zandrekh and Obyron. Those should make for interesting conversions.

To make sure I didn't go out and revive my 3000 point Necron army from hibernation I made a vow not to buy any new models until a)All my Nids and Dark Eldar are painted, b)GW releases the Doom Scythe and Walker kits.

Here's hoping they don't release those models in February as it's going to make it really tempting to break that vow.

Hey, looks nice so far! How did you paint the runes on the Barge? Has a very clean look to it. Also, is this going to be a Command Barge, or Annihilation? Or is there going to be magnets?

The runes are modeled onto the barge so I just paint it in and paint over anything that gets too much.

Whoo got to break out my crons for the first time last night in a 500 pt game

Battle Report

Necrons VS. Sisters of Battle

Necron forces:
Overlord
Scythe
orb

10 warriors
immortals with tesla
4x Scarabs
annihilation barge.

Sisters force:
Canonness
2x squad of sisters
flamer
melta
excorcist
(Not sure of all his stuff)

Deployment:
Game is capture and hold on a 4x4 table with table quarters.
Sisters deploy with the excorcist guarding the objective, ugh.
two squads are deployed 12 inches away from the centre one squad on the left, one on the right in his quarter.
Necrons deploy with overlord and 10 warriors starting on my objective. Immortals and anni barge are to the left of the centre on my qaurter, scarabs are placed behind the centre piece of terrain to block los from excorcist.

Turn 1:
Sisters:
They run forward, no real range on anything from the sisters
Exorcist takes a shot at the annihilation barge, miss

Necrons:
Necrons advance...slowly. Anni barge takes a couple shots...Misss. Immortals take a few shots and one sister down.
Scarabs move towards second squad of sisters to get them into assault in the assault phase. Lord and warriors advance to assist scarabs
Anni barge takes a couple shots...Misss. Immortals take a few shots and 1 sister down.
Warrior squad fire at second squad, 3 sisters down.
scarabs assault the sisters 1 sister down.

Necron: 4 Sisters: 0

Turn 2:
Sisters:
Move squad 1 towards immortals, squad 2 stuck in combat. excorcist moves to keep in LOS with anni barge.
Sisters fire on immortals 2 go down.
sisters assault scarabs, 2 wounds on 1 base.
excorcist fires at anni barge and nothing.
Immortals stand up

Necrons:

Immortals move back to keep out of combat from the sisters.
Warriors move to ensure assault next phase.
Annihilation barge moves behind cover from exorcist.
Immortals fire at sisters and another sister down.
Warriors assault sister squad 2 and overlord cuts down 3 sisters.
We remembered that sisters attacked first so we opted to keep the overlord rolls and just put in the sisters for their attacks.
Sisters cut down 4 warriors. they don't stand up ugh
Scarabs finish off the last few sisters, bad rolls for the sisters.
Scarabs consolidate 4 inches towards the excorcist
warriors and lord consolidate 5 inches to intercept other sister squad.

Turn 3:
Sisters:
Sisters move into rapid fire range with immortals. Excorcist moves back to table edge.
Sisters fire at immortals cutting down 2. Canoness fires at immortals nothing. They don't get back up :(
Excorcist fires at Annihilation barge and takes it down. :( anni barge did nothing that game.
Sisters assault immortals and cut down 2. They stand back up canoness strikes and nothing.
Immortal strikes back and takes out a sister. the other 2 stand back up.

Necrons:
Scarabs and warriors+ lord advance towards excorcist. Warriors fire and nothing.
Scarabs assault the excorcist and score two glancing hits, immobilized and weapon destroyed!! armor reduced by 6.

Turn 4:
had to make a choice either go for the draw by taking his objective and hoping the immortal lasts until the end to get a win....or Table the opponent. I chose to table and as it would make for more combat and more interesting dice rolls.

Sisters:
Her squad continues the assault on the immortals. taking down another immortal. Canoness strikes...nothing again.
Immortals strike back to no avail. Another immortal fails his re-roll.

Necrons:
Scarabs double time it back to the fight. along with run and fleet it ensures they make the assault. Warriors+ overlord march back getting close enough to enter assault.
Scarabs, warriors and lord assault sisters strike first and take out a base bringing it down to 3. canoness strikes immortal and nothing again.
warrior, and immortal strike the sisters, reducing the unit to 1 sister. scarabs strip the armor save from the canoness (Yeah!!) all she has left is her 6+ invuln.
Lord strikes down the canoness.

My opponent conceded at this point. so victory for the crons. We did however roll out one last assault phase for giggles. Scarabs strike at the sister. No wounds.....
Overlord strikes at the sister, 2 hits......Rolls good, 2 wounds!!! looks like the sister is going down except for.... oh whats that? 6+ invuln save? yeah good luck. My opponenet picks up his dice.......shakes them gently.....lets them fly onto the table....and..................DOUBLE 6's!!! My head then explodes....

My somewhat shoddy battle report. We forgot a few rules as he and I had not played in a while but we had a lot of fun regardless.

Hey, just popping in to say that i like your necrons, good paint scheme and conversions. As far as the list goes, i can see why you want to take the annihilation barge, and against some armies you will want to leave your list as it is, but you should think about taking it as a command barge sometimes, against the rear armor of vehicles its usually just as deadly and against troops it will do pretty well too.

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project!

All I would suggest with the list is dropping the rez orb: it won't be of enough use on a 5-man squad to be worthwhile. Maybe invest in semipternal weave and Mindshackle scarabs instead: then the overlord can extend the survivability of the squad by tanking hits with a 2+ save and annoying people in CC.

Love the colour scheme btw

Thanks for the info. Ill give the command barge a go when I line up another battle and see how it fares.

I ended up pairing the lord with the 10 man unit of warriors, did well in the fact I only lost 4 warriors the entire game. I have been dying to try out mindshackle scarabs, though against SOB I just did not see the need as their WS is just as likely for them not to hit themselves, and their strength will keep it from killing anything.

Thank you for the kind words.
