Could've clarified that was best overall. Personally, I'm interested in best general, which it seems were GK.

A GK player just managed to eke out more wins than a CSM player. CLEARLY he's a better general.

Alamo is pretty much 1/3rd battle, 1/3 appearance, and 1/3rd sports. If you only care about beat face competition, I'd look somewhere else.

Alamo is also my favorite tournament and I try to go to both the 40K and WFB tournaments there every year, because it is awesomely fun and we have a blast.

Yeah if one of my opponents hadn't given me a bad game result I'd be tied for best overall even with my loss game 5. I think my game 2 opponent doesn't like my melta spam list.

I wonder if I should take the 51-meltagun 2000pt chaos army next year...

I knew Alamo was going to be great when I bought a beer at 9 am from the bar about 30 feet from my table. That may have contributed on how laid back the atmosphere was.

This year was the first time I went, and after the fun I had 40k tournament, I'll most likely go to the fantasy one later this year.

Army was painted, its not painted well I'll give you that, but every model in that army was painted to a four color minimum. It was indeed a double stormraven list.

Apologies, I admit that I only got a view from about 10 feet out. Congrats on the win, interesting GK list btw.

I've heard that many a times, I guess trying to be different and go with a Codex Gray base color and purple accents just doesn't stand out enough. Remedying this before the Railhead Rumble. Thanks, I couldn't make up my mind between GK and Inquisition...so I just slapped my two lists together. Changing it up for Railhead, hate playing the same thing over and over.

As for one that could care less who beat what face especially boring GKs.

Does anyone know what was in the CSM list?

I know someone will provide a better answer, but the CSM list that won overall was almost 100% nurgle which helped it get "fluffy" points ftw.

Could care less but then ask for a lists contents? Anyway I dont know the specifics, but pretty much every single model was converted and it was very well painted.

I just find painting & sportsmanship to be very subjective. Battle points always interest me.

yep that's it, thanks for the link.

I was going for an all Nurgle list that would still be competitive but fun to play with AND against. I got 80/100 battle point which was pretty good considering my goal was to win 3/5. I can only imagine I rode soft scores into the victory circle which are weighted pretty heavily at Alamo. I am pretty surprised 4/5 opponents voted me "fluff bunny" considering I nearly tabled all their armies Those Lords with daemon weapons and wings INSIDE rhinos are rough!

Thanks to everyone who liked my army and I hope it will still be usable come the new codex.

~cheers

lords with wings inside rhinos?

Did you have some sort of FAQ ruling that allowed that, or did you ride the "move AS jump infantry doesn't make you jump infantry" thing?

From the CSM FAQ:

"Q. Does taking ‘Wings’ classify a model as jump
infantry? (p85)
A. No, it simply allows the model to move like jump
infantry. Note that the model must actually be
converted to have a pair of wings rather than a jump
pack."

Huh. I guess I should start not rolling for my princes when they land in difficult terrain. Might have kept my prince from dying in turn 7.

I like to call it the new "infiltrating speed lord".

If you remember the reference, these guys are equally annoying!

Results will be up shortly, I'm in the midst of a major website overhaul to accommodate Alamo WarmaHordes in September. A very, very unique finish, in many ways. As you will see when the full results are up, though Kingsley won on 4 fluff points (which no one has ever gotten before- required 4 of 5 opponent votes from people he beat as he went 4-1 with 3 full 20's), even without them he would have been in a 3 way tie for 1st overall, as two other players had 222 total points (Joe Cherry-2nd overall and Brian Ellis- 2nd general). Tightest finish ever.

LOL, maybe I'll change what awards are called next year-

1st Overall -> 1st Badass
1st General- >1st Curbstomper
1st Sports-> Coolest Guy in the Room
1st Paint-> 1st Pretty Toys

Joking...

They still have to. Taking a dangerous terrain test when you start or end your move in difficult is part of moving like jump infantry.

It says jump infantry that start or end have to test.

Obviously, a model with wings is NOT jump infantry.

This is starting to get weird, though. I'm not jump infantry, so I can ride in a vehicle. But I AM jump infantry, difficult terrain hurts me. But I'm NOT jump infantry, so Jaws of the World Wolf affects me.

Wha?

You move as jump infantry, which means use the movement rules that apply to jump infantry. But the unit type doesn't change (recently reiterated in the GK FAQ; a Dreadknight with Personal Teleporter doesn't stop being an MC), for rules which key off unit type.

I'll remember from now on when Might of Titan can be cast - wouldn't have changed anything since that other terminator had the other objective, but had I known I would have charged the defiler in much sooner. I will not be afraid of Might of Titan in my own assault phases again!

I had a blast in spite of my dice hating me (was the thunderwolf player with njal... Just ask any of my opponents if you dont believe I have the worst dice in the history of 40k.)
But yeah, was a lot of fun with cool people. At least my sportsmanship score was high! :3
