If you derail my original point about targetted marketing on ebay by resorting to pretty colours then somehow you are right.

And it is terrible that people have a two week gap between impulse buying and gratification. It's the end of globalisation.

We know the facts of...
Aussie's MSRP are 150% of global base price.
We know the local shops, may it be LFGS or GW, most often have ZERO discounts, not to mention traveling expenses and taxes.

Now, we know GW is luxury goods, which pretty much make most of our purchase compulsive.
When we say compulsive we mean right there right now, not 2 weeks to 1 month of waiting.

Then we go back to your original claim of Aussies aren't required to pay the 150% price,
hence I originally said, yes because they want to wait weeks for a compulsive buy.

I think thats due to some people have funds left in the paypal account.
Or they set up paypal so they debit it from bank directly.

That really doesn't sound right. My PayPal is linked directly to my bank account and the funds are automatically transferred. I should also mention that I have absolutely no funds in my actual paypal account.

Although it's possible that since the OP is newer, it takes longer.

Yeah it may be the new thing.

If he paid with an echeck through paypal they take a few days to clear.

In order to do instant transfers you need to fully confirm your account information. Otherwise, it's an eCheck that has a delay equal to the time taken for the funds to clear.

Most eBay sellers are aware of this and will wait patiently. They, after all, have the option of only allowing those people to bid who can do Instant Transfers.

Yup exactly. I never mind waiting on an echeck. I always make sure to contact my customer and let them know I will ship as soon as the funds clear.

in answer to you specific points - you are confusing the words compulsive and impulsive, and you apparently have a misunderstanding about the nature of buying mail order.

From experience Aussies buying on ebay (since this is the topic) are buying from the UK at around or below UK prices.... and in doing so are driving up UK ebay prices, which is a good thing for the sellers - so they are not "required" to pay the prices you quote.

In my experience, its the buyers that cause the most problems, not the sellers.
I have known many people that have experienced problems with a buyer trying to scam them, or trying to bribe them for there money back with the threats of bad feedback.

This is correct. I am a top rated, power seller. It has gotten so bad lately that I will no longer ship overseas. Sorry Aussies, sorry France, sorry Canada. A few bad eggs are ruining it for everyone.

Indeed, and the problem is that there is very little the seller can do as to leave a comment warning others you have to leave a positive feedback.

I know what you meant but I just want to point out that Canada is not overseas from the USA....

You can certainly still find bargains on e-bay, especially if you are willing to strip miniatures. However, since they charge a fee to sell on e-bay, I have found better bargains on craigslist.

Aye, that is one of the worst decisions ebay ever made, why did they decide that the seller cannot leave bad feedback for the buyer, i will never understand.

Supposedly it was done so sellers could not bribe/extort money or feedback from buyers, though that makes no sense to me because buyers seem almost perfectly protected and it's the sellers who are way more open to being screwed over (even more so now, because of the feedback thing).

I once had a guy who ordered something on Friday evening, and I said in my item description I "ship within two days of receiving payment". He wanted a refund for the shipping charges since I had to wait until Monday (ya know, due to the post offices being closed on the weekends and all) and he was quite aggressive in threatening me with negative feedback. Sadly, I caved in at the time.

Another time I took an old laptop hard drive I had used in my PS3 and put it up there with a starting bid of 99 cents, saying flat out what I had used it for and that it was re-certified and everything. The guy who bought it claimed to be a PC repair shop and immediately turned right around and opened a case against me (without even messaging me about it first) because it wasn't in tip-top shape, apparently. This time I was pretty pissed off and told him if he wanted like-new PC parts, he shouldn't be looking at 99 cent auctions of used items on eBay.

The sad thing is the case ended in eBay saying it wasn't my fault, so I got to keep the money - but they still refunded him AND he got to keep the item...

eBay is hellish for sellers now. :|

If you sell on eBay, require recorded, signed-for delivery.

I learnt that lesson the hard way, on a high-ticket sale where the buyer thought it would be fun to lie about not receiving the item. I had a postage receipt, chased it up with the Royal Mail who confirmed that the package was delivered (even to the point where they asked the postman who delivered it) but this wasn't enough for eBay, and in the end I settled for a banned paypal/ebay account rather than having to deal with losing over £200 to some jackass pulling a fast one.

I've had similar problems with accepting packages for a neighbour who then claimed "undelivered" after I gave it to them, with the company they ordered from chasing me for the money.

I think it might be related to what kind of bank card you use. My GF has paypal set up on her bank account but no credit card, payment takes from 1-7 days to clear unless there is a balance in the paypal account. I have my own paypal set up with a pay as you go credit card and as long as the funds are on the card it comes out right away.

I just went through this with a DDO subscription and my SOG subscription for AAG's fourms it kinda blows but dems da breaks.

Did you have enough money in your paypal? If not, the remainder will have to come from your bank.

I'd recommend confirming your credit card on your paypal account as the money will come through straight away if you do that, plus it is safer and easier to pay for things via paypal than having to enter your credit card on every online store you use.

I use my debit card for mine and its instant even if the money is coming out f my bank.

The best way to get cheap stuff is to spell things wrong. fatfingers.com will help you with this.
