Mike usually recommends this hotel, I believe:
http://www.qualityinn.com/hotel-media-pennsylvania-PA560?sid=xScZZM.c0eY9gmzM.14&sarea=&sname=media&sstate=PA&scountry=US&sradius=&slat=39.91797&slon=-75.38981&schain=Q&exp=&scity=&sort=&type=&map=n&nadult=1&nchild=0&city_code=PHL&sstate_country=&listpos=1
While it's only got pretty much the bare essentials, that does include a very small continental breakfast, which isn't bad. Beds are really only suitable for a single person, but there are 2 beds per room. We've put 4 in a room before, but you'll basically be touching your neighbor
If you mention / ask for the "Showcase Comics" or "Granite Run Mall" rate (the latter, I believe) you'll save around $10 / 10%. I think it comes out to in the ballpark of $100 a night.
My wife and I once stayed at a nearby Hilton, and although it was higher class, being further away wasn't worth it... and there's nothing any hotel can really do about having noisy occupants in the room next to you. Since then, I've just stayed at the Quality Inn, and been happy since it is a 2-minute drive from the store.

For anyone arriving friday and staying over, we'll be at the shop until midnight, painting, playing, and setting up. Mall closes at 930, but we can just let you in the back door if you give us a call. Sometimes we go until 2-4 am, but we'll be kicking folks out at midnight so I'm not cranky the next day, and get my sleep.)
Good to see you coming up Don. Beer afterwards down at Ruby's.

Happy to see monly events coming to Showcase!
Won't be at this one, there's a store opening / tourney that same day in South Jersey i've already committed to. However, if the montly tourney works out, would be able to swing by over the summer... pending 1-2 weekend.
Anyone heading by for friday games? I live local so wouldn't be opposed to helping folks with warm up games if they'd like.

Andrew Gonyo squeaked out a win by 1 point. He played Pat Haynes in the final round, both with GKs. Edmund Fisk came in second, and Eric Hoeger 3rd, playing necrons.
Nick Nanavanti and a couple of other Demon players made good showings and tore some people up. Nick and Andrew drew each other for for round two.

No surprise that GK finished at the top.
Had a good time, My Sisters finished 2-1, beating DA Deathwing and IG, losing round 2 to one of the Daemon players. Thanks to Mike for a fun time. Nest time I'll try to drag some more IFLguys with me.

Of course the player never has anything to do with it, must have been my psyfle-dread spam that won it for me..

Not trying to take away from the skills/luck of either of the players involved ( I include luck because I won my first game pretty much on my opponents poor dice). Just not surprised that the top two going into round three were both GK, regardless of player.
Also, for all those that asked about my steam tank Immolators. The model is made by Ironclad Miniatures in the UK, I used Steam Tank 3.

I didn't read any venom in the comment by don_mondo, Target- it is, indeed, not surprising, if current trends are any indication. Just like any cycle of "power books" (IG and SW come to mind) if for no other reason than soooooooo many folks are playing them at the moment! I don't think he was putting down your skill at all, and it's a fair observation based on current trends.
Looking forward to some bat reps from those who played!

I lost to Nick in the first round. He was a lot of fun to play against.
I forgot that my Storm had the Jammer in it...should have parked that thing in front and made it make him roll 4d6 for scatters, since almost none of his stuff landed on target.
The batrep would be very short. His stuff landed near me. I shot up as much as I could. Next turn he assaulted me. Game over. I should have tried to fan out more to make him deploy further out, then moved back in while shooting. Even then, he had the numbers to beat me. This was also the first time I didn't bring a Null Zone libby. Le sigh.
Though Shrike and his assault squad did take out 2 units of plague bearers ! I made a mistake after the second combat...I could have massacred in to cover and let his Bloodcrushers assault me through it....I don't think it would have made much difference
Great seeing you Mondo! Hope we can meet up again soon!
Mike, the food was awesome! Thanks for all your hard work, you set the standard high for a tournament host!

Loved the food too, great value for a saturday event making the long travel time worth it. Only wish would be to end a bit sooner somehow for the longish travel time back.
Don Mondo, in fairness while my bad luck hurt, I was the one who decided to reserve. Getting only 2 units each turn was a risk of reserving.
Andrew, keep in mind that while you only had 1 psyrifleman, your list is amazing in this GK metagame--I think its time to consider that your list is MORE optimized than a psyfleman spam list you rally against. 6 Psybacks, minimum acolytes, dual ravens with combat beatsticks, win grenades, and Dreadknights with flamers answer pretty much everything being played. For example, for all the joking about Dreadknights being bad, 1 Dreadknight will eat an entire line of GK dreads or longfangs in the back field on turn 2, thanks to shunt and 2d6 armor pen/power weapons with the 2+ armor save. They also destroy scarabs, which is a big deal if you match up with scarab farm.

I agree my list is more optimized, I've been saying it for a while :-D ! But since everyone seems to tell me how horrible it is because it doesn't have enough dreads and I hear "how do you win with that?!" so often, the naysayers can't have their cake (your list sucks!) and eat it too (you won because you used gk's!). That's a more general comment, not specifically at Don Mondo's, I just tire of the GK hate I'll admit, but my original post wasn't meant to come off angry, more sarcastic than anything. :-p
Psyfle dread/razor spam is just a bad list ( imo!), it's very easy to play and pretty powerful, so it's easy to pick up and will walk all over less experienced players. But it has several horrid matchups and if it runs into an experienced player (which happens at some point during a GT if you're winning) it's not hard to figure out how to beat. I built mine to be well-rounded (and a good counter to razor/dread spam GK). Outside of LR spam, I really don't have any bad/unwinnable matches, which is how I like it. Mech-spam matches are harder (guard especially) without as many psyfle-dreads, but things like scarab-spam become much more winnable.
As to Dreadknights, they should walk through stationary backfield fire support, but man when they don't it's super sad. In my last game against Pat one died to 3-4 psybolt assault cannons, and a failed sanctuary roll, and the other took 4 rounds of combat to kill 1 dread! Also - it'll kill backfield support starting on turn 2, not on turn 2 (I know you meant that, but just to clarify). Generally if they don't and/or can't deal with it, you can munch one devastator/long fang unit/ psyfledread per turn, and if they've kept them fairly close together, you can continue. But they don't all just disappear at once

The vehicles are airbrushed primarily, then details are done with a brush, infantry are all brush (except the power weapon effects).
I use Vallejo Game color gun metal for the base and highlight with vallejo air "steel", the metallics just looker smoother/crisper using those to me over boltgun, and the model air line is much easier to thin (it's pre thinned) compared to boltgun.
