Thats cold. Does she even have a use for them or was it just to take what you loved. Dont really consider any of my purchases dumb cept for maybe AOBR since I dont play SM or Orks. I did want the rulebooks though so not much lost. Planning to get a few more SM to try em out at some point.

Avatar 720 wrote:You may think it's stupid, but that's your opinion. I think that i'm perfectly justified in calling my CSM army a bad purchase, because it's been sitting here collecting dust pretty much since the new codex came out. It is not 'fun' for me to play it in any sense of the word, and hasn't been since this new edition.

When you drop several hundred pounds on an army that you can no longer enjoy playing for the next 5-6 years, it does not feel like it can be anything less than a waste of money, especially since I didn't get to play enough of the 3rd edition codex to keep me interested; I simply played a bit, wrote lists, bought the army I wanted to play, and had it invalidated.

Waste.

I've played a few games just using the old 3rd edition codex with a few of my friends. We've been playing for long enough that they all still have their old codices too, so it works out, but if you like the 3rd edition codex, see if someone you know would be willing to play a 3rd edition game. No reason that you have to use the current rules.

The boxes of Catachans and Cadians that I got when I tried to make a US Marines in Vietnam style army a few years ago. They didn't match well with Cadians (little lads next to the Catachan). The heads and some of the arms I salvaged for use with my Lancer veteran squads, leaving many mutilated by the effects of extensively applied plastic glue. Recently I've managed to turn some into Armageddon Ork Hunters, but many more lie deformed in a lonely box of failed monstrosities, like my barb-backed werewolves made out of lizardmen (another great waste).

Game wise, my WF empire knights, because they either die, or they run away. or that could just be my dice.

My model wise worst purchase would be my Winged Názgul, which I GS a ringwraith to look like Khamul the Easterling, but I have never even used him. Oh, and I don't know how to play LoTR.. Although tomorrow hopefully, my local GW York won't be too busy (probably not, they are holding the battle of 100 tanks...), so then I might get to learn how to play.

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

Chimeras. My army is airborne, but I saw a tutorial for how to make LAV-looking chimeras, thought it looked sweet, bought two and did it, and haven't used them ever. Quite a waste in the long run. Fun at the time, but still...

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Hmm. Only really 3 things I can think of as most of my non-frequently used stuff still gets pulled out atleast once a month (Fire Prisms, Dark Reapers, Etc).

I bought 2 Bastions while my other friend bought 1 Bastion. We played all 3 for Planet Strike, and have never used all 3 at the same time since. We frequently have 2 on the field at once, and I really would have liked to have only bought one.

I have a single Eldar Vyper that I haven't fielded in...months. I would have to buy more of them to hope to make it useful, and even then they are never going to beat out my Walkers or other units that would be better.

I bought 10 BT Storm Shields from FW and I only will ever need about 5. Not a huge deal though, but still wasted money.

Id say that dark eldar as an army were my biggest waste of money.

Traded off some blood angels for a start, go them commission painted (loved them in 4th btw) played a few games and realized I despised the way they play in the current meta

Eldar, three times over the years I have brought them as I love the background, style and unit choices, but every time I try to paint them I fall flat on my face.

Lost loads buying 1500-2500pt armies and then selling them off for less than half of what I paid.

I own 27 store-bought copies of the movie "Bats". The one with Lou Diamond Phillips.

At the time of purchase, I had a plan in mind and a very specific reason why I needed so many copies. However, I never got around to acting on that plan, and I have since forgotten what it was.

However, I still have the 27 copies of "Bats".

I was the same with my Heirophant. My fiancee bought it for me for Christmas, and a dremel a couple of months before as a birthday present. I was so excited I planned on cracking it open and finishing it in a month.

That was nearly 2 years ago. I've put the head/torso/tail together, and a few spikes.

I can't say I can consider any of my war hammer purchases a waste of money. The closest is likely my possessed marines, which haven't seen use since their nerf in 4th edition, but even those will likely see use again eventually. In my mind, getting rid of an army or models because they suck now is very short-sighted. Rules change, and codices get updates, so today's lacklustre units are tomorrows powerhouses.

Buying an EPIC space marine army off of ebay. The seller "forgot" to list it as epic, and put in a picture of a 40k SM battleforce.

I should have known it was too good to be true when he said it had 300 marines, 40 terminators, 10 landraiders, lots of dreadnoughts, etc. for $60.

Oh, to be young and naive...
