Based on previous sales, they'll be just from PP direct.

I will be working on memorial day, like most in the retail industry, we give extra discount to veterans on memorial day. The large number of veterans who will come though the doors on that day seem to approve of it.

I think PP are spot on with this and I totally applaud their move to recruit from the GW pool as wargamers see yet another aggressive price hike from 'old faithful'...

If its like last year, they're exclusive to PP's own store. One of the few times they sell direct.

HAHAHAHAHA! BRILLIANT! Time to get my girlfriend into Warmahordes. Great timing, PP!

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Is the rulebook that comes with these sets the only one I will need?

Hopefully going to get a friend and buy two sets next weekend!

Unless you're planning on using Battle Engines or Colossals, then yes, Prime or Primal is all the rulebook you'll need. Each model will come with the appropriate stat card, with its own rules on it.

Great. My friend is interested in Cryx and myself in Circle, so we'll have rules for both types of casters. Probably going to have to order some templates from them though, I don't think the set comes with any.

This could be what gets me into Wramahordes, but I'm an utter noob. What sort of savings are being offered here typically?

EDIT: Decent savings! Troolbloods and book at Dark Sphere = £102.16. Sale at PP =£84.30 is. Don't accept PayPal though, can't haz, won't pay the extra money to get from UK with PayPal, not getting into Warmahordes. That's how quick and unreasonable a potential customer can be to say naaaaah

There are paper templates in the back of both books that you could copy onto heavier card stock. But, by and large, you'd be better off just spending the 10 or so dollars for the transparent plastic ones.

Just gotta say, whoever put together that Khador list is a jerk.

3 rocketeers away from a full Deathstar? Take out the Widowmakers, add in 3 rockets and a War Dog and that list only gets nastier.

As far as needing another rulebook- you'd eventually want the "codex / army book" equivalent for your faction, but it's not needed to play as you have the rules on the cards.

I hope Privateer has worked the kinks out of their shipping procedures this time around. Last year's summer sale had some glitches that resulted in buyers not receiving their items for weeks after their credit cards were charged.

Yeah, their usual glitch of under anticipating demand for their product. I'll be curious to see how smoothly or not the process goes this year.

Why hate on a company that doesnt want to pay paypal's fees? The deals are already a deal, now your asking for a better one.

These are great deals, unfortunately I already have my rulebook and my only current idea for expansion involves Circle and not 2x Argus. But if I was starting Legion now, instead of 8 months ago, I'd be very happy with this.

Hey guys, noob here with his friend, how good are the Trollbloods and Cryx Summer Sale bundles in terms of units that synergize and/or are often used competitively, and in terms of monetary value?

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause.

I can't speak for the trollbloods, but the Cryx bundle looks like it'll work nicely.

In general, it seems as though PP has actually put some thought into what they have bundled together. While there generally are no useless units to beign with, each of the bundles does look like PP took the time to actually put together options with some cohesion.

I agree. That bundle has the makings of a pretty solid Deneghra list. It is nothing unorthodox, but it would give a new player a wonderful opportunity to learn the main mechanics of the faction and some solid units that can easily be used by other Warcasters.

The Trollbloods bundle has the same issue as the Battlebox in that it doesn't include a heavy warbeast and doubles up on a light that you probably won't double up on once you buy a heavy warbeast. But the bundle add ons are all frequently used, effective units.

So how much of it will eventually go to waste? How much am I still saving/losing money wise?

Would it just be better to buy stuff separately?

A sale?! Who does sales anymore? Real companies make kickstarters with 'rewards' that allow you to get models you can buy already but for a slight discount... all to design and release models your studio is already planning to design and release regardless! It isn't like selling your products directly generates profit which can be re-invested into your own company and sales help move sitting product...

Oh wait, that is how it DOES work! Seems like PP is moving product, making profit and re-investing in itself to grow more and make more models the CORRECT way. Good for PP. I support thier sale. Gonna buy a bunch of gators and turtlemen and other neat-looking models to paint up... And I don't have to wait months for a goal to be reached! Huzzah!

Unless I'm specifically held to the battlebox, I usually only use 1 axer and 1 impaler. The impalers are good at keeping some things at bay and knocking them down, but the Axer is the nicer part of that box (besides Madrak). It's not a bad way to start Trolls, but yeah, you'll probably want to buy a heavy warbeast kit not soon after.

If I didn't already have most of the pieces to that bundle, I'd probably still buy it. It's a good deal.

We understand that you don't like companies using Kickstarter, nkelsch. There is no need for you repetitively bringing up the point, again and again, even in threads having nothing to do with a Kickstarter campaign.

Get off your high horse, change the broken record, and grow the hell up.

My experience with trolls would lead me to believe that you're better off without the starter. Get a heavy (a mauler is usual) and a couple of lights (Axer + something else) and a caster. Trolls are the most expensive faction $$ wise, so be prepared for that.

What about the fellblades and whelps? Are they useful or would it really be better for me to start off with single boxes of other models?

Even with the free rulebook included?

If I get an axer and impaler in the box (I can use a second impaler to start and then trade/sell it later I suppose) that covers the lights. Though at this point I am just guessing off of what you are saying, I don't know whether or not any of these units are any good together as I haven't even played WM/H yet.

Is the caster in the battle box any good?

I don't know, I really like the way trolls look and (as far as what I've seen from beginner's guides) how they play (heavy CC with some powerful but inaccurate or sparse shooting right?), but if they are both the most expensive $ army and their summer deal isn't very good, then idk.

As a backup plan, what about the Legion and Circle battle boxes?
