Thanks!

Well, unfortunatly, i scratched the camo cloak veterans idea, and went for a more 'highland' look.

This is the 1st test model for my Veterans, The Thracian Highlanders.

I went for the same colors for the kilt as the bodyguard had. I once painted a napoleonic highlander from victrix, and the kilt was a pain in the ass.
Here's the old napoleonic highlander I did

Spoiler:

Thanks for watching!

Alright mate, I'm glad to see someone do another Highlander themed Guard unit/Army.

You should check out my Blog linked in my Sig I think you may find it of interest,

You can buy kilted legs for your guardsmen from victoria miniatures like I did. May give a better result in your final models

Nice use of that head though I tried test fitting my spare ones they just seemed too small but yours seems ok... odd !

Thanks! your blog looks very cool, I like the conversions!

I put a tad of greenstuff on before I attach the victrix heads on 'em. otherwise they won't fit as well.

I know about voctoria miniatures, I plan on buying the tanith stand ins. (Once i get a job) Ifind myself drooling over the victoria range a lot

Thanks BigJim, glad you like it.

I've got another small WIP update for you. I'm finishing the last three guardsmen. When they are done, the 1st platoon will be completely painted.

I base-coated a commissar, the veteran plasma gunner and the veteran sergeant.

Fluff for the commissar will follow after I painted him. Also, any ideas for an original name for the guy?

I've come up sith some fluff for the Highland Veterans as well. Hope you like it.

Thracian Highlanders (Veterans)
These sturdy men hail from the Thracian Highlands. The people around the highlands were the fiercest to overcome during Thracian’s pre-Imperial time. The tribal men hailing from these parts were considered good shots, and very brave. As a recognition of their fighting skills, The imperial Crusade that took Thracia granted these men their life and made an agreement. The Highlanders were decreed they supply the Tharcian Guard Regiments with good reliable men, using their own dress style, but conform to the rest of the Infantry Regiments. These brave soldiers are also included in the newly founded 31st Tharcian Infantry, and serve the God-Emperor in His Glorious Armies.

Thanks for your attention!

I'm still not dead on dakka.

despite the holidays, I haven't had that much time for miniature work. Now that summer vacation is ending and I have to start school tomorrow, I'll have more time. I hope.

Anyways, I finished the last three guardsmen of 1st platoon. A group picture will follow soon.

I've also finished a leman russ.

I'm still looking for a name for it. I was thinking Lion of Thrace? It would fit in rather well with the 31st banner. Or is that too mainstream?

I also worked on some of my necromunda gangers. I finished the leader and a ganger. This is an early incarnation of my leader, as he makes progress, I will make a new model for him.

I'm curently painting more necromunda related miniatures, and some rough riders.

Thanks for viewing!

I'm digging the kitbashing, alot.
also, i've owned those exact same jeeps and bridges once, i think they came with old army men play kits right?

Thanks!

And yeah they do. I have forsaken the jeep idea. The jeep looks to big and out of proportion, even for GW miniatures. I'm going to strip the parts used and use them for something else.

The bridges are really handy for gaming use. They look great, no need to make your own if you have those. I wish I had more.

I hope to see 'em painted soon too. Unfortunately, school turned out to be more work then I thought. Plus, I've been banned a while by Reds8n, so I wasn't posting often.

*Rises from the dead*

Hello

I finally got around of taking pictures of the 1st two finished rough riders.

Here they are, cc welcome

For the moment, I'm a bit tired on working on Imperial Guard, and so I will now focus more on necromunda. I still need some more detailed terrain, and i'm working on some small market stalls.

Hope you enjoy this blog.

Scrazz out

Your stuff looks amazing. Love the theme and feel of your army. Reminds me of Gaunt's Ghosts.

Do you use washes at all? Some shots looks like you don't need them, and then other pics it looks like wash would do wonders for you. The fleshtone wash is amazing in my opinion, as is the black and brown washes just for adding some grit and illusion of depth on models.

Thanks wingeds

I appreciate the feedback.

Which pics do you mean? I think you mean the pics of Imperial Guard? Yes some of them are not painted with that much detail, considering they are guard and I need tons of that so that explains why they don't look too good.
If you are talking about my necromunda models, which do you mean? I put more time in my necromunda models because i have more love for it then 40k. I want my gangers to look better then the average mass table top armies, so if you can point out which miniature you mean, and how I can specifically improve that model, I would be very thankful

In the Wasteland

A new update, just a small one.

I found this guy in one of my boxes, and decided he deserved some paint. I don't know where I got this one from tough...

This model could easily be the leader of an ash waste gang. This gave me an idea for building one. Most of the models would need to be greenstuffed to fit in though.

Tell me what you think

Is the non metallic decent? or should I stick to the rusty metal theme like I did with the rest of my gangers?

Sorry for the weird pics.

Hi there!

I went ahead and converted a new model for my Ash Waste Gang. Sorry for the bad pics, I just wanted to show it, and I need to go soon so...

Finished this one quick, just a test model. I intended to give him more of a full robe, but decided not to. What do you think?

Hey there, time for some more WIP.

Started painting the first nomad

And I decided what to be the gang's main vehicle.

It's just painted in a rusty theme so that the rest can be added later on. I have a question, what should I add to the wagon to make it fit in more with the theme of Ash Waste Nomads?

Cool idea. Subscribed. The gangs are looking pretty nasty. Like the guard, especially the highlanders. Very cool

Thanks Gorgrimm, glad you are liking them

I managed to get some more work done on the Ash Waste Nomads.

I finished painting the first ganger.

I built a ganger with a long rifle. Seems with Nomads, these guns are obligatory because of the rule of cool. I tried modelling his hand like he was shielding his eyes from the dustwinds. I'm quite happy with this guy.

Last model for this update is another ganger, which I wanted to portray as a driver/mechanic. Also pretty happy with this one. except the rebreather. I don't feel the IG rebreather fits with this model. I still have to remove the mold lines on the lasgun though.

'm done with the Nomad Sniper. Here he is. I am happy with him, especially his gun. He is a bit smaller then the rest, which is a shame, but meh. Done is done. Hope you like him.

It makes sense that the sniper is smaller than the others: he's a smaller target and he can stake out smaller spaces.

Good point Thanks.

I went to the store yesterday to buy this guy, the WarlordMiniatures US biker. I figured he doesn't need much conversion. Just a fitting paintjob would make him fit with the nomads.

I also saw these clan highlanders from WarlordMiniatures, and couldn't resist getting them. I think I'll be using them for a fantasy game of sorts. Any advice how to paint them? I was thinking grey with pale blue clothes. Thoughts?

Alright, I got a little bit sidetracked. These warlord figures got my attention now, I think I'm going to add more stuff like this to add to the more rural and backwater places on Thracia.
Well... I just need an excuse to paint whatever I want

Here is WIP on the miniatures.

I'm going to the shop again in two days, I'm going to buy up on some paint. And possibly a few more of this line. I like the miniatures.
