I personally would sell, use the money to buy new figures, but that is my preference!
I put a bid on ebay for a metal vampire counts figure, and thought i would go to £10 as it is only finecast available now from GW at £23....
The figure went for £25, i really do not understand some people, its an online carboot sale for the love of the emperor!!
I do think some people get 'ebay' fever..'OMG its on ebay,i don't care how much i pay for it, it has to be a bargain!!!'
I say keep it. I've got it myself and it's absolutely beautiful. Great quality paper (nearly twice as thick as the normal rulebook) and great print quality.
And it comes with GW patented FineTypos (tm). Do they actually have proofreaders?

I was considering ebaying my collectors edition. It's too pretty to lug around to games and get it knocked about, especially when you consider that its almost an inch thicker than the regular version, its not really that practical.
Something is preventing me from doing it though, I really love rare collectors/limited edition stuff. Although I know that I'll never use it, and just leave it in the box to keep it nice if I don't sell it, I can't bring myself to get rid of it

Yeah I was inking something similar, it's too nice to flog and I really dont need the extra £100 it might generate as much as I like to have what is a really beautiful book.
It's defitintely too big for gaming though so I'll definitely get a mini rulebook too; whether that's part of the starter set or from a hits store depends on the models in the set.

The fact is, everyone wants the current copy of the limited edition, but the novelty wears off, and in the end, all you really want is the compact version of the rulebook. If you keep the limited edition rulebook, people will look at you as if you have money to burn, and displeased. If you sell it, people will think you are a jerkface-jerkoff-jerkoloid..... by my experience you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. I'd sell it.
This. I sold my WFB 25th anniversary collector's edition for £50 in the end. It'd pretty much become a lodestone and the novelty had worn off.

All depends on what your hobby budget is like.
Mines very limited it's the reason I did't buy the special edition to stat with. I sat down and said do I want to pay £x amount more for a bag I probably won't use and a lasgun pack full of red dice or do I want to spend £x on models. I chose the models.
if i'd thought about it i'd have ordered one an flogged it, I like liited edition stuff must think I've out grown my "need" for it.

Not to offend anyone (too much) who's buying one of these on ebay, but....Really! Why didn't you just buy it from GW when they were on pre-order? I thought about buying a few and re-selling them, but making a few bucks isn't really worth my time. If you want/need to use the new rulebook to make money, to buy more product, to stay relevant in the game, then by all means go for it.
If people are going to buy it and you value the money more than the item, then go ahead and sell it.

As I am curious let's ask the other way around: those of you who preordered it at GW, did you do it because you liked it or with a later resale value in mind?
I bought mine because I really wanted the gamers edition and sat up till midnight before the preorder to get it. However having seen them selling for over £100 more on ebay the day mine arrived I sat down and thought if having the bag was really worth the extra money compared to getting a fully fleshed out force. Since my hobby budget can be somewhat limited some months the extra money comes in handy and thus mine went the way of ebay.
I do get pangs of guilt about letting it go, especially given that it currently sits at a fairly low price, however it is making a profit and I do enjoy the idea of actually finishing an army I started.

I thought about buying a collector's edition to resell it, but I honestly didn't think there would be that much of a profit margin. These people are paying insane prices.

I pre-ordered the gamer's edition because I knew I was going to buy the rulebook anyway, and my current messenger bag is starting to fall apart. And I'm a sucker for trinkets like the dice & holders.
However, if I can get $250 from something that I only paid $140 for, then I'll sell it, as then I can just buy a cheap rulebook and spend the remaining $180 on new models. Like 4 Night Scythes. Because I generally try to keep my gaming budget ask close to zero as I can (not counting paint).
I have been known to do this on occasion with limited edition models, don't really think there is anything wrong with it. We put enough money into the hobby it is nice to get something back once in a while. Doesn't harm anyone really (bar the person who is paying over the odds but they are doing this willingly and their fault for not buying from source at launch really.).
Actually for limited edition Gamesday models putting them on ebay is often a saving over buying a ticket as the person doesn't have to pay for travel to the event they may not be interested in/just want the mini.
Wow. If anyone's crazy enough to offer me a big sum, I'll sell my gamers. Lol

Because folks ordered them and they sold out! Including myself. Hence Limited Edition...
I just did a quick eBay search for 40k gamers edition and there were 12 auctions give or take, with 0 bids that ended in like a day or so. Id say keep it. Although the real pictures I'm seeing show it to be much MUCH uglier than I thought from the GW pics(which I loved). Either way good luck.

They were limited edition, some people like me who cant be online 24/7 missed out. Not that i would get one on ebay, GWs loss it is, not mine.

it only occured to me to do it once it was sold out.... and then the hassle.... oh the hassle...
and you never know. It might be a limited edition run like SPESS HULK!!! or like Dreadfleet.

it's true, but the price was inflated. Especially if you lived anywhere that was not the UK or the US.

Look, get rid of the thing and you'll be content in the long run. besides, the moment you end up ripping or tearing it you'll be mad you haven't sold it.
Know what you do? Have a stash of money for something like this and get two, so you have two gamers edition sent, one NIB, and one you use. then wait about a two weeks then list your NIB gamers edition. So you get your rule book for free and have some extra money on top.
Chances are that if you waited two weeks, you missed out on the good sales.

Yeah, the time to sell is right now, for about another week. The market you wanna cash in on is the group who recognize that they just barely missed out, and are desperate with frenzied buying. Two weeks later and they'll calm down, and think twice about dropping $250.
