Simple Green strips the paint right off for me. I find leaving it in a higher concentration or leaving it to soak for a couple days works very well. Purple Power also takes no prisoners when it comes to rending paint from it's adhered surfaces. A proper stiff brush is definitely in order though.

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

For my sisters (that were bought mostly off Ebay) I used things like paint stripper, heavy duty cleaning fluids, etc..

But you'd always have some paint left in various crevices..

With paint thinner, this ceased to be a problem. Yes, it's caustic and it needs to be handled carefully. But it cleaned out hard to reach spots on my minis in less than an hour, where brushing and picking at said crevices with toothpicks/needles didn't help, even after many days soaking in the normal ways.

ok best thing Imo even with heavy primer. Pine-Sol and an old toothbrush, it smells nice to boot. It will jack up plastic though.
