Though not speaking of our own position on it, I believe the Tornado ruling is that it is simply an effect, not a weapon of any sort, sot he FAQ would not apply. That's the counter-argument I've personally heard.

IN re: the outflanking issue, Outflank is a USR, not a sub-rule of Infiltrate. Units with Infiltrate also simply gain Outflank. Reading a rule too closely can be dangerous ... heck, if you read Infiltrate, ANY unit w/ the USR that is not placed in reserve MUST be deployed last, and cannot be deployed with your army "normally." There's no option given.

This is a YMDC / whoever's rules argument location, but the simple argument for the Ethereal joining Kroot is that if you place them in reserve, they are not infiltrators or infiltrating, and they do have the Outflank USR. Nothing prevents you joining an IC to a unit in reserve, or outflanking with one, so it's just the question of the line about IC's not being able to join infiltrators (a term which is not a capitalized and/or USR'ed term ... just referring to units that are infiltrating). Infiltrating is not outflanking, but units with Infiltrate also gain Outflank. Messy messy thing, could use a GW FAQ, but I'm not sure where the barrier to joining them mutually in reserve is, when not infiltrating.

The Bugeater is another of those tourneys that it feels like my busy life won't let me make it out to ... it along with the Indy Open are two I really want to go to, whose organizers I have a great deal of respect for.

Well that explanation for the Tornado ability makes sense. I can also see your point about the outflank.

Yes. These abilities are similar in function to Imotekh’s ‘Lord of the Storm’ ability, which also affects flyers per the most recent GW FAQ. So long as the effect does not use a blast template, draw a line or anything else, it can affect zooming flyers or swooping flying monstrous creatures.

Not sure if the tesla arc would fall under that ruling. The GW FAQ say weapons but then the arc is an ability of a weapon so not sure....

You can only re-roll 1 time so after your first saves roll you would:

- Be forced to re-roll all "succesfull saves from first roll" as per Null-zone
- Be able to re-roll all "failed saves of 1 from first roll" as per Tzeenchs rule

Yea just need to bring the right army. I could ask your alls opinions. How would you all feel about SMS drones being used as missle drones? You cant take SMS drones. They are only vehicle upgrades that are nondetachable. So shouldnt cause any confusion. It should be obvious what they are.

First, let me just say that I'm sorry I lost track of this thread and the rules questions - a mistake I made in scheduling the Bugeater the same week the school year gets done ... it got a little hectic!

Second, I want to say a hearty congratulations to all of our winners. In particular Matt Root for REPEATING as Tournament Champion, going undefeated with Tyranids this year. He won 12 straight games at the Bugeater over a two year stretch ... impressive to say the least.

Congrats to our Sweepstakes Champion (our Best Overall or Ren Man), Hulksmash, who lost to Matt in the last round. Prior to round six he won all primary - secondary - tertiary missions, and his army was beautiful to boot. I'll say it again like I said at the awards, I'm super happy because Brad has been a proponent of the tournament since the get go, and helped get the word out before we had any real credibility as a tournament.

Thanks again to Tim for running - I hope it was a successful fundraiser for the debate team. I know I had a shitton of fun with my bugs, and every single one of my opponents was a great guy.
