Any word on the format/army construction rules? It looks like its 2000 points, but I'm not sure if we can use fortifications, or if its a true 2k list with Dual Force Org...

One force org plus allies for sure.
I'm currently reviewing the fortification rules ( and all the contradictory silly ways people who don't read the rulebook are using them ) Part of the rules pack will include how fortifications work with rule references to the BRB so people can review them, and know how they will be played at the GT.
Missions will have a primary objective for a 'Win', and secondary objectives which will score you points whether you win or not.
A complete rules pack should be up before jan. 1st
But feel free to send me a PM is theres a question on something.
We'll be running a warmup tournament on Jan. 19th that will use the rules set and missions very close to what we will be running at SVDM. General mission descriptions will be up by then as well. Most if not all the elements of which are from the missions in the BRB with a bit of warp to them

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Hmm, why would it not be allowed? It's over 30 days until the Tournament. I think I'd have to actually make a special rule to ban it. And I don't mess with Dark Angel players like that. They'd hunt me down and torture me. Automatically Appended Next Post: DX3 wrote:Any update on when the missions packet may be available?

HaHA!
Missions are going to be pretty standard. I ran some prototypes last month, and will again on Jan 19th for some testing. Much of the material comes straight out of the rule book.
There will be a "Primary Goal" for each mission. Things like Kill Points, Capture the Relic, etc
There will be 8 points possible for Secondary Goals:
-Warlord, First Blood, Linebreaker are each worth 1 point each.
-5 objectives will be placed on the board for every game. These are worth 1 point each.
There may be small twists, but the missions are meant to reflect standard 40k play. That said, it's amazing how many people never play some of the missions in the book, and are surprised by things. In particular, the difference between controlling an objective, and capturing the Relic. This cost a few people the game last month. You all might want to take time out from the metagame discussions and reveiw those standard missions.

Had a great time at this event - as usual !
I'm not sure how the results shook but I think an Eldar Army with a massive Jetbike Seer Council won the overall.. but it was very close amongst the top 4.

Had a fantastic time!!!!! Great event at a great location!
The food was so yummy. I have to admit, I had seconds on the pork, and at the end of the night took a third pulled pork sammich home.
The Brauts the next day were fantastic as well, but they were super filling, so only 2. I only tasted the chili and it was great as well, but a whole bowful would not have been good for me
Can't wait to come up again!!!! See you soon Mike!

Great event. It definitely lived up to everything good that previous attendees have always said about. Mike's got a great store that makes a great tournament venue, fed us all really well, and kept things moving right along on schedule. He was also great to talk to and really open about giving everyone as thorough a rundown as they wanted on paint judging. Without even asking about it, he went through exactly why I got the score I did, and some things to look at to boost it that wouldn't require me to massively improve as a painter. Call it a benefit of running a 5 round 40ish person event.
And yeah. Best Overall went to a Saim-Hann Jetseer army with an allied power blob and a pair of Demolishers, though the top half dozen were all neck and neck.

Had a great time as usual. Very well run event, nice tables and friendly players. Hell, the food was worth the price of admission. Reminds me of the "old style" tourneys, where you couldn't wait to see old friends and check out the "cool converted" and well painted armies!!
Highly recommended !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone have a list of the final results? Mikhaila?
I need to get back up there! But I'm spoiled by sweet local stores now, with Dropzone Games and Games n Stuff moving to a new, bigger location.

Well, Dropzone is just expanding into the empty space behind them, but I was just at a tourney there Saturday, and it's going to be a huge amount of gaming space. GnS is moving altogether! But not far, just to a bigger store... not unlike mikhaila did a few years ago

The area can't support 2 game stores. One will kill the other. I think GnS realizes this, hence the expansion.
It's going to be interesting. Dropzone has great customer service, but is more specialized than GnS and newer. GnS has an established clientele, and while I like the owner, his staff has always been lackluster, especially the girl he has doing miniature games, and I've heard negative things about the Warmachine players there. The latter is probably a personality clash.
There can be only one......
