Yeah, but the Bastion has 8 firepoints. one on each facing and then 2 on 2 of its center sections(that can be placed any which way you want.

So you can get 6 fire points facing the direction you want. thats 12 models shooting. plus 2 HBs.

Only 2 models can fire out so its impossible to have 8 autocannon shots from one havoc squad as was mentioned earlier.

For 115pts you have 8 autocannons shots and 3 heavy bolter shots hitting on 3's from a Chaos Havoc squad. For 150pts you can have a 5-man Blood Angel Devastator squad shooting 4 plasma cannon templates out of the bastion withi impunity.

I was under the impression that only 3 units could go in the bastion one at top, middle, and bottom, accordig to you its broken down into sections is that correct? I am unsure 6th edition fortifications is new to me.

It's inside and on top for the bastion.
I take one because I need some anti-air in my Tau lists, but I am finding it quite useful. It gives me a lascannon with sight on petty much the entire board. And that interceptor rule is niiiiice.

Also, I don't see how you are getting two heavy bolters. They don't have a 180 degree arc, so there isn't usually overlap.
And the models can only fire they heavy bolters if they are inside, so it's the hb's or the other weapon at full BS.

Christ, where do you buy your turnips?

The actual rule is 2 models per fire point. I personally don't have the Bastion model, but looking from the pics I'd say you can trivially get at least 3 firepoints in the 'forward' facing of bastion.

One of the slots people are looking at as a firing point is actually on the roof, so that's one firing point per facing and a whole lot of wasted firepower. This debate would be more interesting if a lot of people took the time to read the Bastion's rules to be honest.

Bastion has two sides that have two fire points, and one on the other two sides, i believe. At least one side has two fire points.

People who stopped buying GW but wont stop bitching about it are the vegans of warhammer

This image pretty obviously shows two firing points above the door, on both sides of the heavy bolter. Those are clearly marked as firing points on the page 97, something that you'd know if you had actually taken the time read Bastion's rules. So clearly it is not only one firepoint per facing as you're claiming.

As I said, I don't have Bastion model, but I'm pretty sure you can assemble the model so that you can get three firepoints to face one direction.

I looked at Bastion but decided against it for the same reason I am so careful with raiders. Vindicators, melta, lance etc etc etc

To bring it you need to tailor your list to optimise its capabilities. So what if your opponent is tooled up and nails it in an alphastrike? Auto bad day at the office.

I prefer the defence line as it cover your whole army rather than just a few units, and it cant be destroyed.

BUMP for 8th edition. I really like the looks of the Bastion - I have a guard army. Can I make it work? Is it worth it?
