All this sounds much like blind guessing to me. Black Templar being a major release with as much work to do as Dark Eldar and Necrons? WTF
Zweischneid wrote:Wasn't there a comment out there by Phil Kelly that he wont do any more Eldar because he didn't want to be pigeonholed as "the Eldar guy"?

That's correct. Also rarely does one author redo his own Codex, as he has written the previous version of the Codex.

Sorry, he's the devils creepy uncle, you know the one with the milky eye, the one that all the family really just doesn't want to invite to anything and everyone's too scared to go up to him and tell him. Everyone is sure he'll throw a fit if you ask him about getting an eye patch?

That's Mat Ward.

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

My main concern is that we are going to straight up suck for a year and a half while more current armies get undeserved updates, essential alienating a group of paying customers.

But hey, this is GW. Standard procedure.

Orks originally reproduced via the medium of crap, is that really better than spores?

The stand out thing from these 'rumours' that makes me think that they are a fabrication is that a Marine codex somehow takes as much work as a totally new xenos codex. I think not.

Honestly, I like the space fungus fluff. It's some of the more interesting and original species biology fiction I've come across.

Just out of interest did you ever own the 1st edition Ork books?

2 books and about 300 pages of ork background and culture ('kultur'?), tiny details covering everything, have essentially been reduced to "me smash raarrrrgggh"

It's not like it's possible to dumb it down even more, so I think in that sense whatever is done to their background can only really be an improvement.

Okrs are great, full stop

I like the Black Templars (although they are the smallest of my 4 Space Marine armies - only a few hundred points) - especially after reading Helsreach - presonally I would rather they got certain authors to actually write the fluff (ADB, Abnet, Kyme, Mitchel) and then built the units around that - but then I'd like to be married to Kate Beckinsale and its about the same level of probability

However I would prefer other factions than the Astartes were sorted out but again there is that likelhood/probablitiy problem again.

I AM A MARINE PLAYER

I build up and still run Templars in every game..ok..so its the only army i have lol I love them and I rather enjoy our codex from 4th, however i think i have to agree with several people. why wait till now? yay DA got a new book, bring us up next and start the cycle of codex's over or something I really don't want to wait till 2014 or 7th ed for that matter..I can win but i'm hard pressed..give me my new codex and lets get back to the business of stomping orks the Templar way..

Colour pictures as well as a Hard Cover too.

I really doubt that the Templars will be done by Ward. My bet is on Vetock. Maybe Kelly, but I just don't seem him doing it. I really hope Crudence does not touch it. And as for Tyranids, I'll be shocked if they get an update this year. Eldar, Tau and Orks as well as Black Templars need it more.

Hopefully Ward doesn't touch Templars, hes shown his view of them by writing that awful gak fluff in the Necron codex about how the Templars were utterly defeated by them and how Imoltek personaly bested High Marshal Helbret in single combat taking his arm as a trophy....

Games Workshop: Ruining Chaos Space Marines since 2007

First they raised prices on the Eldar, and I did not speak out because I did not play Eldar.

Then, they raised prices on the Orks, and I did not speak out because I did not play Orks.

Then, they raised prices on the Nids, and I did not speak out because I did not play Nids.

Then, they raised prices on the Marines, and there was nobody to speak out for me.

I did a google search and came up with June on several other sites as well, along with a list of rumored new/redone models. I just picked up a codex off ebay (lucky i got it fairly cheap) and I was going to start a buying spree in a couple weeks...to include a bunch of battlesuits, which are rumored to be getting redone...so Ill go a bit easy on those for now.

No offense, but you do realize how that sounds right?

Just like I heard it from the local redshirt who has connections and. Better grip on things than all the other red shirts who just spew garbage.

I would love for it to be true, but do feel that the other races need some major attention first.

This is a guy who used to nail rumors 100% on another site I frequent, until a now banned member complained to GW about a rumor this guy dropped that he didnt like. Hes been very quiet since but still drops truth nuggets from time to time.

Of course, you are welcome to salt me as well. And even if its written that doesnt mean its coming out any time soon

Mat ward doing Orks?

Deep inside my inner child just cried...

I dont want a super OP cheesy book, for people to complain about to me for using Orks, I want a decent balanced book like Codex: CSM and Codex: DA and that current balanced new direction GW are going though not some OP book where anything I take is going to be OP, and people to whine about it...

And he better not even touch the 'Nids...

Can't remember who is doing Tyranids, it's either Phil or Matt. I think it's Matt but I'm not 100% on that one.

This is all I took from that. Hopefully it's Phil, and not Matt, though.

If it is written, then playtesting is over obviously.
But BT currently being playtested sounds believable. Makes the release more than a year away though.

It can be written save for some army list section adjustments points-wise etc. And as such going from final playtesting to release for the book only takes a year if the people involved take a year-long nap or don't give a feth about actually releasing the damn thing.

Don't worry, Ward won't give you an OP steaming cheddar-heap of a codex for Orks...

...He'll give you a weak-sauce pile of crap because he doesn't care about Orks and didn't want to have anything to do with them the first time GW put him on the Orc&Gobbo project!
My bet is he'll make it 'Codex: Random Stuff' full of mediocre to over-costed units with all kinds of random rolls thrown in and an Animosity system that cripples the army.

I really feel bad for every Ork player if Ward is writting the codex. No one deserves such a horrible fate.
