Subject: Dropzone Commander- Update 3/27, New Units released, Rules posted!
It´s a little bit disheartening to see your 250 pounds in FoW, Dystopian Wars and then DZC. The first gets me a food court tablet full of minis and the second one is nearly the same, with DZC the minis not even fill a quarter of the tablet.

DZC is on the expensive side for sure, but it's also a small startup manufacturing in the UK, so I imagine the costs, especially with a small scale of production, are also quite high.

The UCM land carrier thing looks interesting, but it feels to me like a "I have everything else already, let me go ahead and get that" item rather than a must have.

Didn't want to take Paulson Games thread further off track.
Do we have a release date on the terrain pack yet? I've toying with getting in to Heavy Gear Blitz, and this looks like an incredible deal for that game as well!
A nice product to be sure, but the reviewer calls it 15mm when in fact it's actually 10mm in scale. It could probably still be used, but doorways are going to look a bit small.
Still, it's a great deal!
I love it, and I will be getting one for sure. The slight difference in size is fine for me, as I never use infantry in my mecha/armor games. Its all about the vehicles baby.
Also of note...The warstore has this listed in the preorder section, $35.99

I believe it's a preorder on the 5th of April, release on the 20th (will double check later). I can't wait! Getting 2 packs if usable for mecha front, they're twice as good

Subject: Dropzone Commander- Update 4/3, Bigger discount at Warstore, Cityscape Card Scenery only $35.99!
It should ship in April 19th with 20 buildings and 24 1footx1foot tiles for only $35.99 at the Warstore!
Also, my friend noticed that many items at the Warstore are now discounted 20% off instead of 10% off for those who have commented on the prices being high. I'm not sure if this is permanent or what, but it's great! It doesn't seem to be universal on every item, but the starter sets for example are 20% off, as are others I looked at.

I can't state how much I love the look of the paper terrain set. The price is fantastic and it looks fairly easy to mount on tile. The best thing about dropzone commander for me is how they've managed to standardize terrain setup, I've seen tournaments pix and the tables all look very fair. That's always been a huge pet peeve with 40k, terrain is often treated like an afterthought and there's no real standard from tournament to tournament.
Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

I just picked up my Citypack and finished assembling it, for $45, it's a great buy, and a good deal cheaper than the ~$1500 for the same amount of terrain in DzC's actual resin buildings
Also, as a bit of a news item, for the Hawk Wargames forum

Subject: Dropzone Commander- Monorail terrain pic from Salute, page 2
Whoops, you are right! I got it from this site of Salute pics, which also has the following text:
I was really glad to see Dropzone back for a 2nd year. Last year, they were there but hadn't released their figures but had all of their models for show. This year, they had their full range, including buildings and a monorail that I really wanted to buy. 10mm isn't my thing, but they are making it hard. I'd love to pick up some of their walkers and drop ships for Future War Commander.
But I apparently there was also ANOTHER monorail there for a different game. Anyone see a pic of the DzC monorail on there, or on another site, as according to the text above it was present at Salute...?

Should be. Even though Mecha Front is 15mm technically...the overall design of the mechs doesnt give it away, so they should blend with 10mm scenery just fine.
Whats my game?
Warmachine (Cygnar)
10/15mm mecha
Song of Blades & Heroes
Blackwater Gulch
X wing
Open to other games too

Anyone care to share how it plays?
It's relatively simple in terms of mechanics, alternating activation for units (so you move/shoot with one battlegroup, I move/shoot one of mine/ repeat until all units have gone). very focused on local board control, ranges are very limited (explained in universe as active countermeasures/interception systems able to block/shoot down projectiles unless fired close) as is movement (the Scourge are fast with 6" and 9" movement, while PHR walkers only move 3" and the heavy walkers 2" each turn) which necessitates the use of Dropships to really move around the board. Infantry are rather weeny when paired against vehicles, but are required for nabbing objectives in buildings and can be dangerous in built up terrain. Terrain is also a huge deal, ideally played with lots of dense and tall terrain like built up urban zones. Stuff tends to die fairly quickly in general when within weapons ranges, a relatively lethal game compared with most 40k armies.

I just finnished assembling my PHR army, I'm very stoked. I started putting the buildings together from the cityscape, amazed at how quickly they go together. Can't say enough about the detail on the models, mad respect for hawk wargames.
Also, I think the mini's in the monorail pic are by old crow.

yeah, I picked up my cityscape Monday, got all 20 buildings shaped up in a couple of hours, $45 to build a nice looking (if admittedly resembling a mid 90's video game city of flat land and straight edge buildings ) and complete gaming table is sweet.
My only gripe is that they somehow decided putting mould gates on the curved noses of the PHR walkers was a good idea for some reason
That and my tables will never look as awesome as those pictured in the rulebook with the full Resin terrain buildings

I think the upside is unlike 40k where terrain is a huge variable that often gets looked over or ignored, dropzone has managed to sorta standardize the terrain its intended to be played on and I think that's the biggest thing to like about it. I like that all the pics I've seen of dropzone tournaments, the tables are all speakin the same language and you get the feel that you could play anyone anywhere and have the same consistent gaming exprience.
Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Really nice table set-up, looks really good. The miniatures aren't half bad either!

It is.. but, the miniatures are just so nice (was going to use the word 'cute' but don't want to scare anyone off! ).. I think anyone who can appreciate smaller scale miniatures, even 'N' gauge model railways, sometimes there can be really fine things to be found in small miniatures beyond their physical size.
There's an interview with Dave Lewis (founder of Hawk Wargames) regarding the new monorail scenario for DzC starting at about 41:15. The first monorail pics start at about 42:10.
