Anyone ever see a 28mm alien drop ship? Not the old plastic kit from the 80s it cost about 250. If you can find it.

A pro-modelmaker mate of mine MADE one years ago (he was in SFX ). He had a 1/72 scale APC (Japanese) and armed with all the source photos he could find, set about building it, using various aircraft and helicopter parts. The APC even fit onto its loading ramp.

It was on display in a SF bookshop for a while until they got broken into and it was one of the things stolen.

He also made a full scale replica of RoboCop's Auto9 handgun out of plasticard (with removable magazine).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

So has anyone seen a good mini representation for the smart guns that the marines carry?

It's basically a chopped up MG 42. I was thinking about taking one of the many I have left over from my Bolt Action Germans and trying to jury rig one with extra bits and bobs of sprue and the like.

This might have been mentioned before in this thread, I did not read every post.

http://www.collectormodel.com/round2-models/1686-round-2-models-alien/

Round 2 has been re-releasing a lot of old plastic kits and while they do not list what they are going to do i would speculate that the APC might make a comeback. If it does it will most likely be in Hobby Lobby where a quick visit to the website and a printer gets you a 40% off coupon.
Other hobby threads have suggested the drop ship and other items.
Some people on the model forums are dumping the old kit now at a high price thinking it will lose value if re-released.

Just some general rumors about which all, none, or some may be accurate. The news release has nothing official other than them getting the license.

I have a couple of the ones EM-4 sells, they are great for the price:

And Atenociti's Workshop has something that would work too.

Somewhere in south-central England.

The smart gun was an MG42, or more correctly the modern German army version, mounted on a Steadicam harness.

If you are looking for a weapon to match 28mm models, Tamiya do a set of German infantry in 1/48th scale. The sprue includes optional MG34 and MG42. A bit of work with some plasticard and rod would provide the harness.

Are you guys talking about the remote smart guns or the ones that Vasquez carries?

If it's the remote gun, then the EM4 version pictured above is ideal.

If it's the carried version, the EM4 troopers also have one that's quite nice.

Denizen's not-colonial-marines also have one, but they're 27mm figs in true-scale proportions so they don't mix well in units with other figs.

I'm talking about the carried ones. The autoturrets were neat, but I'm not really interested in making them at the moment.

Why buy when you can papercraft one that looks that awesome. You can also adjust the printing scale to get it the size you want. It's on my list of things to make.
