Why is your stretch goal image different than the one from kickstarter? For instance, isn't the 45' wall the $19,000 stretch goal, and what is the Tower and Tomb you've listed in the $17,000 one?

I am certainly tempted, but I would have to figure out if I could overlay 2d tiles over the floors if possible, which means finding out if the walls at all encroach of the 1" tile or if in the casting process the scale has been dragged slightly off.

Understandably it would be good if you could throw a couple of wooden overlays like Harrowing Halls or even a couple of Shadowghast Manor/Castle Grimstead tiles over the floor to help create that enclosed feeling. For $200 it's a fair amount of investment (compared to the 5-20 sets of 2d tiles you could get with that kind of cash) but looks to be worth it (depending how susceptible the floor is to cracking due to the thickness compared to the walls).

i've been helping itar out by making the stretch goal graphics for him and so he tells me ahead of time what the stretch goals are supposed to be, but plans change and etc etc etc...

the material itar uses is some heavy duty, high strength, resin which will hold up to just about anything you can throw at the pieces or even if you try to damage them by actually throwing the pieces. i only recommend that you do not try to see "if it will blend"

i'm curious though, what would you be doing to the pieces that you think would potentially cause them to crack?

i couldn't tell you about the 2D overlays fitting or not since i do not have the overlays you're referring to. there may be a ~.01 to ~.001" variation on the inch in either direction with itar's tiles, but you'll find that there is very little in life that is 100% exact, unless you're getting high grade medical or scientific instruments.

i drew up the pieces in Sketchup to play with and then i made some screenshots of the pieces you get in the basic, deluxe, intermediate, and ultimate dungeon sets to help people see what they're getting since the pictures of the actual items are a bit off. i've also included the current stretch goal pieces so you can see the whole set in it's current state. at the $28,000 mark, Itar is doubling the corner walls and doorways for each set \m/

i'm fairly certain that they're accurate (piece count), but i'm only human. if anyone wants the Sketchup files to play with, just let me know

After seeing the mock-up for the ultimate set, I'm pretty much sold on the whole idea. I didn't see until now that the doors actually slide into the frame rather than just standing alone. It would be great to see a trap set released as a stretch goal or add-on to really turn it into a complete tabletop set.

Very impressed with the amount already. For $200 that's HEAPS! Very interesting. Still hoping to make some SDE boards... I'll get some think cards and make premade 12x12 rooms I think.

people keep asking for traps, but what would they look like and how would they work?

A fully operational death star and a fleet of star destroyers?

But really, I don't see why you would want a visable marker for a trap. Isn't the point of them that they are hidden?

I'm not entirely sure either. Maybe so that the players remember they're there once they have been found?

Alternatively make some sort of 2d tile and put it on all of the squares. As a character moves on to one, you flip it to find out if it's a trap or a safe tile. Like minesweeper, but with dragons.

I was thinking that the DM could just paint little clues on the tiles/walls/doors where there is a trap.

It's the same reason you might want a 3d book case or table or other dungeon accessory: because small tiles are difficult to locate and it helps being the whole tabletop experience to life. Traps also have lines of effect, and on top of that can be created by characters and also removed. A physical representation helps with that, apart from the fact that traps are an essential part of all dungeon crawler RPGs.

It rounds out the set and helps with immersion.

Traps as an add-on make sense.
I am really in this for the tiles though, can think about add-ons later (even though I LOVE the tavern set)

Up to 31,000 now, so the Tavern Accessories are now in, along with a bonus hidden doorway piece.

Oh I am definitely going to sig that!

Quite tempted to hop onto this, sure I can find a use for pretty much all of it...

You should jump in on it. For $200 you get over 1000 square inches of dungeon. That's enough to do two feet by three feet of dungeon (assuming no empty space).

Oh, this is a crazy good deal. the more people that we get though the better. Actually going in for some extras on this one (as the shipping to overseas doesn't mug me like some of the other KS in this area).

Are there any pictures of the dungeon with miniatures in it? It seems like a great deal, but I am not sure if the 1" high walls will bother me.

Indeed, obviously the lower cost of shipping is supposed to be offset against a larger number of backers. Hopefully more people will jump onboard.

On another note, the secret door is an awesome idea. However after the first time you use it, your players will obviously be on the lookout for the wall with the secret slotted door from then on.

I was thinking the same thing
But who knows how to open such a door... just because the players know it is there... the characters cannot open it!!

I remember this coming up and people were saying to use the secret door as a regular wall in every dungeon until you're ready to spring it as a real secret door.

Looking at this practically: you have a very limited number of secret doors compared to regular walls (the ones which are exactly the same without the slotted door). With a non-slotted wall, the chances of finding a secret door (if the DM is very much realist in terms of representation) is 0, the chance of finding one with one of these secret doors is at least a chance.

I'm looking from this as a DM and a player, and we're already at the end game before this has begun.

EDIT:

Next stretch goal reached - $34,000 2" and 1" long walls

Each Basic Dungeon set will get two 2" long walls and two 1" long wall pieces added. Deluxe gets 4 of each, ultimate gets 8 of each. If you pledged for a painted dungeon these will be painted to match.

Add on Price:
two 2" wall: $5
two 1" wall: $3

That's another free 6"-24" of wall line and a further attached 6"-24" of floor space upping the piece count to 58/116/174/232, keep it coming people!

i've been trying to get itar to take pictures with miniatures in the dungeons, but he's worried about miniature companies being slap happy with lawsuits over unauthorized use and blah blah blah (i.e. games workshop syndrome)
