Group games with my usual gang, which have resulted in my Tyranids teaming up with Grey Knights, Tau or Sisters at different times. The Tauanids were my favorite.

Once played a team game with my tyranids having Tau allies.

No sir, I didn't like it. Why kill Space Wolves from afar when so many tasty fish are nearby?

Well, my Grey Knights work with Malal...

Then there was this one campaign we played. It started off with Ultramarines 2nd Company, led by Cato Sicarius, landing on a planet to rid it of Orks...
And then the Chaos cults summoned Daemons...
And then the Necron woke up.

The Grey Knights came in to do a purging, the 2nd Company refused and allied with a Chaos Sorcerer to escape. As they were passing through the portal, a random Terminator Sergeant killed Crowe and took the Blade of Antwyr with him...
Every single Purifier and Paladin (and dozens of dreadnoughts/interceptors/tank pilots) died between fighting Cato and the Necrons.
The campaign ended when Ultramar waged war on the Inquisition and the Blade of Antwyr started corrupting entire systems.

Generally, I find alliances between the books in the newest edition to be an abomination with a couple notable exceptions: any SM chapter with any other SM chapter (excluding CSM), IG with any SM chapter (including CSM), and CSM&CD. That said, my greatest fluff-rape has been an alliance of Noise Marines and Khorne Berzerkers in the previous CSM book.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

The last game I played was a 3 vs. 2, 3500pt per side.

The teams consisted of: Tau w/ Eldar Allies + Daemons + CSM w/Daemon Allies vs. Tyranid + Blood Angels.

It was kind of funny watching Flying Hive Tyrants escort a Stormraven around and a Keeper of Secrets acting as the Farseer's personal bodyguard. Sure it made your head hurt, but whatcha gonna do?

Alright sorry man, have to correct you! Your Farseer had a personal Bloodthister bodyguard!! ...see? not so much fluff massacre now eh?..Keeper of secrets was totally on the other side of the board!

Not only that, I want my Vargard Obyron "count-as" to be her "Guard Captain" and previous lover before they exchanged their mortal bodies for the living metal ones.

The thought of a female necron and "feelings" (even if they are pre-living metal) in a Necron army? I am sure the New-crons haters out there want to kill me.

Oh, snap! My female Overlord See Mun, uses Obyron's rules while her military advisor/martial arts teacher Do Nahu uses Zahndreck's!

Hmm, does treating Do Nahu's phase shifter/sempiternal weave combo as her going all "Inner Peace", Kung-fu Panda style count as a fluff massacre?

Or there's my other HQ option, who don't see the light of day too often I have to admit. A pair of Destroyer Lords scratchbuilt up to look like winged Tomb Spyders. Still working on the Troops option to go with them (need to figure out how to make canopteks to count as Necron Warriors).

I'm slowly working on a renegade Space Wolf and Thousand Sons army. Everyone is painted red and silver; TS do it out of pride of what their chapter was, SW do it out of shame of what their chapter did (and I do it because I like the colors.) The Thousand Son contingent comes from a group that was not on Prospero during the purge, and is still trying to do their search for knowledge and mastery of sorcery routine. The Space Wolves were subjected to a fault in the Super Brain Hypo-Learning Machine (hey, they put it in the Ragnar series... I'll use it) and learned more about the beginnings of the Horus Heresy than they were meant to, and were eventually horrified at what happened. Both groups are furious with Tzeentch over being manipulated. How they got together? I have no real idea.

So I'm going to be fielding a "Ravenwing" Landraider...

Human Auxiliary to the Empire

OOOH OOOH OOOOH! I got one! I think this may top all of yours if I do say so myself. Its a custom HQ(s) than I made for a fun build your own HQ and sprinkle love on top workshop at my local store.

Alright alright, heres how it goes!

Theres this Tau chick right? BUT!!!! Here's the catch! She's only a half Tau, the other half is HUMAN! Yeah, thats right! But WAIT! Theres more! Okay, she wears these plasma gauntlets that strike at S5AP2 in melee, and she PREFERS melee combat! Also, she has a jumppack!

BUT WAIT! THERES MORE!

She has a companion that is a guardsman who prefers standing back and shooting his large, overcompensating sniper rifle (WHICH IS IRONIC DONCHA THINK?). Hes the guy that builds her equipment and keeps her alive!

B-B-B-BUT WAIT! THERES MOREEEEEEEEE!

She (And him) Command an army that consists of mostly auxiliary units and dont follow most of the normal rules for the Tau Empire! They arent rebels per se, just a fighting force independent of the Empire!

Hows that eh?

P.S. This is all explained through PAGES AND PAGES OF FLUFF WRITTEN BY ME, although I got through GREAT lengths and extraordinary measures to make it make sense.

There's this group of Thousands Sons who went in disguise in order to continue fighting loyally for the Imperium. They weren't immediately affected by the Rubric of Ahriman but it was slowly starting to do bad stuff until their apothecaries figured out a way to turn female aspirants into space marines which solved the problem somehow. Thus the Thousand Wolves, the all-female loyalist Thousand Sons posing as a Space Wolf successor chapter, came to be in their present form.

They use the rules for Grey Knights.

I do the same thing, simply because I like the idea of a Terminator army and prefer the Wolf Terminators over the Dark Angels Terminators. Logan Grimnar takes the place of Belial, Wolf Guard take the place of regular troops, and obviously Wolf Guard Terminators replace the Deathwing. Works pretty well, I think.

The only fluff massacring there is having the Wolves deep strike into position.
