Oh I use them, I mean, they are fearless in all but assault, and a lot of rending attacks for slaanesh marks means they don't often lose combat, and if they do, they are disposable and cheap so its no biggie. Good for chasing devastator squads and being an irritating fire magnet
But I really couldn't use those models, especially with them being both crap, and expencive. So I used tyranid rippers modded up a bit.

So SW characters are oldest you can find in a story.
SM Thunder Armor is oldest being sold.
No?
The Warlocks are the oldest models outside the collector's range.
They are as old as the SM armour variants in the collector's range.
SW characters are one year younger.
Slotta base got a new model without the 4 sprue I think.
Sand is not a model (and wasn't sold by GW in the 90s AFAIK). Same with model grass.
Sororitas weren't even introduced in 1991.

As found in the Eldar HQ section.
Ah, cheers! I stand corrected. 1991 miniatures still in production.
So how many people here are younger than that mini?
Oh and the circa 1989 Reaver Titan should also get a mention, even if it's not 40k, it just went OOP this month.

There were 2 female space marines who are sort of proto sororitas, and a they got a passing reference in RT
But yeah they did not become a faction until the 2nd edition black codex.

BairdEC wrote:The Eldar bikes and space marine bikes are both pretty old. I think several of the other Eldar models are also from 2nd ed. (warp spiders, pathfinders, banshees, and the other aspects). Orks have mostly been replaced except for some of the grots and the wartrakk/ warbuggy and a couple of the big guns. The sprues for the Leman Russ and Chimera have been updated to make assembly easier, but the models still look pretty much the same except for a few new options. Dunno about the other armies off hand. I don't think termagaunts, hormagaunts, and genestealers have changed, but the bigger bugs definitely have, so I just might not be familiar enough with the lines.
Most of the aspects were updated in 2007 except swooping hawks and warp spiders. Pathfinders are Ranger models, also updated in 2007. Genestealers have changed dramatically since 2 ed so have hormagants which used to stand taller than a Cadian and were made of white metal.
Wartrakks,WarBuggies,Space Marine Bikes and EJB are all from 1993 and 2 ed.

Actually, SM bikes have been re cut. Only subtly, but the rider is now different, I bought a bundle of 2nd hand recently, and there's a definite difference between the model kits now and from a few years ago.
Whether that qualifies as new or not, I'll leave to the brain trust.

When they released C: SM for 4E the bike got new molds, and the Atk Bike Mk2 came out but I don't really see the difference between the new and old ones. What do you see?

The Vyper is in the same boat as the bikes. I bought one off eBay a while ago, and there was something like a stat card with lascannon and plasma cannon options on it. Which I believe hasn't been available in this geological era. It's had a retooling or repackaging (with new weapons) since then, but barely any of it has changed.

I noticed a difference when I got some more SM bikes a year or two ago. The newer versions are pretty much identical, only the waist join is rounded, presumably to accommodate the plastic Marine torsos to make kitbashing easier.
Either that or I'm basing the presumption they used to be flat on the old metal plasma/meltagunner torsos having flat waist joins.

Pewter-suppliers and casting methods changed on those old Eldar/Space Wolf/Etc.. miniatures too. At least once in the move to Finecast, probably more often.
If we look at what goes into the product (black paint or miniature), rather than the product itself, it's going to be a seriously difficult call to make. And the "oldest" thing will likely be something far more recent.
