I second the idea of using dwarven cannon batteries backed up by a warsmith. Your opponent is gonna be hurting. Also, ogres are a fantastically fun army that just came out, their units hit like a ton of bricks and they hold up decently. Just had a very fun game with them against Porkuslime last night, and I'm looking for a rematch next time I'm in Ohio. Next time with Blasters and Red Goblins.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yeah - my girlfriend and I have been taking handicaps lately - she plays the heavy artillery, I play the mobility... We faved elves last week - their center folded under cannon fire, and they were so distracted by the artillery that I was able to crush one of their flanks. (Things that do not get you into elf heaven - having to admit that you got flanked by dwarfs.)

Having the gunline engage in melee to exploit a flank can be amazingly effective.

And rangers are good at both....

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.
