"Drive closer! I want to hit them with my sword!" Was a pretty common title for 40k demotivational posters in like 2008 or so, where it usually had a picture of a tank commander swinging a sword while sitting in the cupola of a Leman Russ, for no reason whatsoever. Badass, but totally impractical at the same time (just like 40k sometimes)

Awesome piece. once again it makes mine look "less cool" now. You need to know that this vehicle will be a HUGE draw for fire and close combat attacks. When your opponents find out it is your HQ , prepare to see Wraithlords or thunderhammer Terminators, or meltagun vets , Havoks... any and all gloryseeking ya-hoos are coming with shennanigans in mind. It will now require a full platoon of Infantry or hvy wpns , or Ogryn or more to defend it. Good luck! again great build.

It will definitely need to be bubble wrapped with infantry.

My Leviathan was constantly being hit with Wraithguard or Dreads walking in from the back field thanks to a 'strageum'. Bubble wrapping with tons of cheap IG will help.

In fact that led to me doing the 100 Maniacs army (100+ Necromunda guys) just for the Lev.

Yeah, once I get finished painting the leviathan I will post a proposed datasheet and adjust the points from there. The plan in my head is to have it carry 50 troops or 10 sentinels. Ill probably have 2 heavy weapons teams with Lascannons on the upper deck and 4 heavy stubber gunners in addition to the 6 twin-linked heavy bolters, two twin-linked lascannons, and 4 heavy flamers for defense. I'll have 4 sentinels ready to spring out of the back hatch via the apocalypse formation that gives them preferred enemy. I also plan on flanking her with Leman Russ Executioners, Chimeras, and a pretty decent sized imperial navy.

Another problem I see with wrapping the leviathan with infantry is that if the enmey engages you in hand to hand combat, you are not going to be able to fire on them and they will most likely crush your infantry and still be in close proximity the next turn. I can roll out of combat with tanks and still have that buffer.

looking good brother. Ironically enough I am not bringing any deamons to our next apoc.

In most of our apoc battles the Iron Warriors sit back and watch the deamons steal all the glory. namely An'ggrath the Unbound. Watching him take apart your Warlord titan in a single round of combat was both impressive and a little scary, then in our last battle he led a pack of bloodthirsters in opening your fortress.

No this time the Iron Warriors will come to battle alone with out demon allies.

Might have a titan or two. but you have been hearing me say that for close to two years now. ( I wouldn't hold your breath.)

I'm looking forward in facing a "regular" army. The flying around, with multiple wounds, and invulnerable saves army was getting on my nerves!

The painting is going slower than anticipated, base coat almost done on the right side. I think I'm going to swap the middle twin-linked heavy bolter for something more nasty. Anyways build is done, paint in progress.

I would put my Leviathan in the same class as a Reaver Battle Titan. Here are the pts for a Reaver.

1450 pts
3 weapons, 3 of which can be a "D" strength weapon if you choose
14/14/13 armor

Leviathan Proposed:
1600pts
Turret mounted Volcano Cannon
Hull mounted Magma Cannon
4 Twin-linked Heavy bolters

Access Points: Two rear hatches, 1 upper deck, 1 ground level. Up to two units may embark or disembark per turn

Transport Capacity: 50. It may carry up to 10 sentinels, which take up the space of five infantry models

Special Rules: Mobile Command Vehicle, an officer embarked within a Leviathan may still issue orders to squads. Measure ranfe and line of sight from any point of the Leviathan's hull.

Slow and steady: A leviathan may not move more than 3". As a result all troops firing from the upper deck do not recieve a shooting penalty when the Leviathan moves and fire at full ballistic skill. Thoughts? Fair or not? Too expensive, should cost more? Something sound too crazy?

Your costs aren't too far off the leviathan from the old lords of battle pdf that bols put out quite a few years ago. Different weapon loadout, but you have a higher points cost to reflect that. Was the old datasheet something you used as reference material? If not its worth taking a look at. Pm me if you don't have that pdf and don't feel like hunting.

I saw the PDF from BOL. I did use that as a starting point. Thanks
