TFGs to manipulate the game and it WILL at some point screw over an honest player. Probably more often than it resolves anything.
Those issues already exist. There is literally no excuse for a game not to come to its natural conclusion in a tournament. The current state of tournament play changes the game in such a way that those armies that can late game contest, and are generally less durable than more static armies have an unfair advantage when games don't finish 5 turns and almost never finish 6-7 turns in tournament play. To think that games aren't constantly manipulated right now to end the game early is naive. Honest players are already being screwed over. Time needs to be allowed to play a game through Turn 7.
Most players can do it, but they have to think and react quickly. If people want to be able to take their time then we need to move to 2 day 4 round tournaments. Yeah, I don't see that happening either, so you have to play with a speed chess mentality.
I'm all for double forfeit if games don't resolve naturally (or a player concession). I guarantee that
TOs will pay more attention to complaints if it means that people get DQ'd. Those issues seem to be about the only ones that
TOs, who are already stretched way too thin watching games, have time to deal with.
