Imposing a double loss rule just opens the door for sore losers, teams, and TFGs to manipulate the game and it WILL at some point screw over an honest player. Probably more often than it resolves anything.

Those issues already exist. There is literally no excuse for a game not to come to its natural conclusion in a tournament. The current state of tournament play changes the game in such a way that those armies that can late game contest, and are generally less durable than more static armies have an unfair advantage when games don't finish 5 turns and almost never finish 6-7 turns in tournament play. To think that games aren't constantly manipulated right now to end the game early is naive. Honest players are already being screwed over. Time needs to be allowed to play a game through Turn 7.

Most players can do it, but they have to think and react quickly. If people want to be able to take their time then we need to move to 2 day 4 round tournaments. Yeah, I don't see that happening either, so you have to play with a speed chess mentality.

I'm all for double forfeit if games don't resolve naturally (or a player concession). I guarantee that TOs will pay more attention to complaints if it means that people get DQ'd. Those issues seem to be about the only ones that TOs, who are already stretched way too thin watching games, have time to deal with.

This is only possible in a BP system, but I have been adding "completed turn 5" to my list of bonus points in RTTs I have been running and the effects on game completion rate have been pretty dramatic. I have debated a "no overall or best general if you fail to complete 2/3 of games" clause, but I am experimenting with incremental fixes before drastic ones.

I would never attend such an event. This is big bias against horde armies.

Surely the solution is longer rounds or smaller point totals?
The point total seems to creep up all the time, with models getting cheaper, and 6th edition adds a lot more rolling and fiddly mechanics. Seems to me something has to give, and the points total makes the most sense to me?

Just play KOW instead, you can use a chess clock then.
