Hm. Good question, never thought of that before.

Wolves: Can't really get into their fluff and models, just not to my taste.
Dark Angels: I actually kinda like their fluff, but otherwise they don't really interest me all that much.
Dark Eldar: fluff doesn't really do it for me. No notable interest in them in general.
Eldar: Ditto.
Grey Knights: I have my dislikes of their fluff. Also fielding smaller army doesn't appeal to me so much, I prefer some meat to my army.
Orks: I like their fluff, but don't feel like painting all those models up. Also horde armies don't really appeal to me.
Tyranids: Ditto, but I would consider them if a Genestealer supplement ever became a thing.
Tau: their fluff doesn't really interest me, nor a lot of their models.
Necrons: A lot of the models are kinda basic for my tastes, and the fluff doesn't grab me as much as some others.

Chaos is kinda iffy. Sometimes I think it'd be a cool idea, other times not so much. Not sure I'm quite onboard with playing probably the two most evil armies in the game. But their models and fluff are interesting.

Even though I plan on getting all of the 6th ED. Codices, eventually. The following armies are highly unlikely for me to purchase.

Adeptus Sorritus: the prices are too much for the models, don't like digital codices, and I have my IG already.

Orks: I have my IG, my sons Tyranids, and daughter's Eldar.
So I don't need another Horde army. Plus, the Orks codex has
changed the most from time to time.

Chaos Demons: If I were to choose to build an army from "the Enemy from within." It would certainly be the Night Lords.

Any horde style army really. Not that I dislike them in any way, but at the rate I paint it'd take me years to complete a green tide army or a proper Tyranid force which is a real shame because the trygon has always been one of my favourite models in the entire 40K series. It looks fantastic to me.

I'm more inclined to start something with lower model counts as it better suits my painting speed.

Necrons - I like the idea of them, but I can't stand the stupid egyptian look of them. Robot walk like an egyptian...lame...

I can see the connection, but why can't they look more like terminators or borg, or...just...not what they look like...

The sniper things, Deathmark maybe? They look awesome though...but the rest...pass!

Imperial Guard probably. Which is sad, cause I love the whole "indomitable human spirit" idea but
A) I don't have the money or patience to field IG in any sizable force and
B) I would have to create my own entirely custom, kitbashed regiment because I really do not like the look of any of the models.

Infantry or vehicles (except maybe sentinels, but sentinels are greatly frowned upon. Go figure). I have considered a min unit of silly looking Cadians to hold objective and just mass artillery batteries cause it's cool in theory and fluff and looks on the tabletop but I would lose every time and it would be a massive money sink.

Chaos anything: LOYALISTS FTW.
(Maybe Iron Warriors...)

Dark Eldar: Bad guys? check. Hard to paint? check. Elves? check. Speedy and fragile as opposed to slow and durable? Check. Totally worthless to me.

Eldar: The living incarnation of your God of war is the punching bag of the universe... no.

Tyranids: Why am I hitting things when I could be shooting them?

Never say never. When I was younger I thought like this and told myself I would never play Orks, SoB, Guard, or Dark Eldar. Now I have them all with armies of 4000+ pts. Between my closest friends and I, where we keep our armies in a common location we have collected every army between fantasy and 40k, and when we battle, we randomize which army we are going to play to switch it up.

I would have to say for myself
1.) Imperial Guard- flat out not a fan of the troop models sadly. also fairly boring army for a game that plays in the future, though I totally understand their purpose.
2.) Adepta Sororitas- well like many I would be interested in them but I mean, those models......and the cost!?!?!?! Its sad cause I really think they have some great potential to make some amazing models out of them and could have a better market than even GW thinks.
3.)Dark Angels- Love the fluff but not really an army I think should've got a complete seperate Codex. (sorry DA players, no offense)

Tyranids. They have no fluff, cheesy rules, and unsatisfying models. In addition, while not every Tyranid player is a cheater, most of the hardcore cheaters I know also play Tyranids. It's so bad, I cringe whenever I see them come out.

Tau- I don't like the models, mainly the tanks and Kroot. Also, the younger brother plays them and I wouldn't want to step on his toes.

Dark Eldar- I've got enough spikes and hedonism in my CSM. If I was going to go down that road, it'd be Eldar for me.

Space Wolves- Sick of the endless wolf-everything.

Grey Knights- Nah, not for me.

Awesome, have an exalt for that sir!

As for me, there are only two I really don't feel anything for; Eldar, because of the aesthetic (every time I look at the army I think "taste the rainbow") and Space Wolves because of all the ridiculous Wolfy McWolf stuff. If they pared them back to being a cool "Vikings in space, driven by honour" then they might be interesting, but at the moment they're ridiculously OTT, even for 40k. Plus I also like pre-heresy Thousand Sons...

While I don't have a particular dislike for any 40k army, I'm all about the Monstrous Creatures (and by creatures I mean creatures not mechas or baby carriers), so if I start another army once I've built up my Nids it'll probably be Daemons over anything else.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

I play SM, and I don't really dislike the models, but the scale of the models really gets on my nerves. They simply don't fit the lore. I mean really, they are as tall and as large as Imperial Guardsmen...

 Warboss Gobslag wrote:

A FLGS here in Hong Kong had a sort of competition/tournament recently, one guy had a Tau army with models that integrated bits from Gundam plastic kits. They definitely looked Gundam-styled, but they also still looked like Tau at the same time. Was still tournament legal apparently.

Anyways, I would never play Chaos. They are essentially heretical Space Marines with spikes and deformations. Disgusting. Purge with fire.

And also any horde armies. Would simply be a nightmare to have to assemble and paint. And I don't even want to think about the pain of having to actually play with them in a game. Once, one of my scout squads survived against almost a hundred close combat attacks from a large mob of Ork boyz. What a waste of time.

First I would never play a nid or Imp guard army. I already have one horde army with ork and I don't feel like painting another huge pile of models.

Second Space marines just dont appeal to me in the slightest so I would never play any of the many marine armies.

Double Fine Adventure, Wasteland 2, Nekro, Shadowrun Returns, Tropes vs. Women in Video Games, Planetary Annihilation, Project Eternity, Distance, Dreamfall Chapters, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Consortium, Divinity: Original Sin, Smart Guys, Raging Heroes - The Toughest Girls of the Galaxy, Armikrog, Massive Chalice, Satellite Reign, Cthulhu Wars, Warmachine: Tactics, Game Loading: Rise Of The Indies, Indie Statik, Awesomenauts: Starstorm, Cosmic Star Heroine, THE LONG DARK, The Mandate, Stasis, Hand of Fate, Upcycled Machined Dice, Legend of Grimrock: The Series, Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians, Cyberpunk Soundtracks, Darkest Dungeon, Starcrawlers

I have a KickStarter problem.

Tyranids - I have never connected with them in any way, my knowledge of their fluff is extremely limited, and I have never been interested enough to seek out more. Their models are kinda cool I suppose, but I think the appeal of 40k to me is in the superhumans in big suits of army with bigger guns.

I don't think I get into an army with a really small selection of units to choose from too, like Adepta Sororitas or Grey Knights.

Space Marines (silly)
Dark Angels (lame)
Blood Angels (sucky)
Space Wolves (I mean, come on)
Sisters (expensive)
Imperial Guard (only as allies to another army, never as the main army)
Chaos Space Marines (I did play them, but sold them off. Wouldn't get into them again)
Chaos Daemons (too much bitching on the internet)
Necrons (boring)
Orks (because "WAAAGH" and their fething language)
Eldar (because eh)
Dark Eldar (see Eldar)
Tau (see Chaos Daemons)

So I guess if I ever start playing 40K again my army of choice would be Grey Knights or Tyranids.

Anything chaotic -- creatures of the warp or formerly mortal traitors, cultists or xeno breed, I'd happily oppose them but to join? Never. Spiky freaks don't cut it.
Tau --- weird fanbase, a faction stuck in ideology of the worst kind, No just NO.
Tyranids --- bugs exist to be squatted. Have zero appeal in Models or fluff.

Towards the "never" part of the title, I couldn't say I would never plan on Eldar but I won't be able to do them right so I'll restrain myself. Their path ends at the planning stage forever.

Armies I can't plan on are digital only ones, the new thing of GW. I'll think about them if they offer dead tree based publications and new Models. A bunch of bits'n bytes isn't getting me started.

Any kind of Eldar: Space elf and Panzee jokes aside, I just hate their fluff and don't care for their models.

Necrons: Seem devoid of any personality(I'm sure someone will say otherwise), almost rivaling the tyranids. But the tyranids actually look fun to paint. Not to mention the severe lack of bitz.

Tau: Shooty just ain't my biz, yo.

Codex Space Marines: 'Cause the Emperor is a silly person. That said, I would maybe play blood angels if I could make a decent model for Malakim Phoros.

Imperial Guard: Not until they can make Tallarn models for all infantry choices.

Khornate or Tzeenchian forces: Don't have models quite as good looking as plague marines or noise marines, with their sexy bodies and beautiful faces, respectively.

So basically, I would play almost any army that Lord Gatlas wouldn't.

"BOYZ! Stormboyz, today de uvva gitz are... Uh, ovah dere! We'z know da job, an' we'll do it! We fight ta fight, as Blood Axes, as stormboyz, an' we fight in da name a' Gork an' Mork!"
