With belakor out now it changes things a bit. But as it stands screamerstar and flying circus are 1a-1b in no order for demons. Both have strengths and weaknesses but are still very powerful. So yes I'd say screamerstar is still very powerful and competitive although people are now adapting to fight it which is diminishing it's effectiveness. Where as FMC circus plays a different game altogether so will probably stay relevant longer.

The Flying Circus did get buffed a bit from the Black legion supplement and Be'Lakor.

That said, Eldar does have the strongest codex around. So many units are competitive choices, aside from the Serpent Spam/Wraithknight/Warpspider list that everyone seems to be running.

It's not so bad that X army performs better than Y. It's hard to get the balance right for every army to be the most competitive. The problem is these "super" builds. These have come in and if you play against them its a waste of your time. I play casually and only have time for a few games but i like a game i have a chance in. With these builds the opposing player may as well not even unpack his models and instead play COD or somemthing. Yes someone can get DLC for that too which gives them an unfair advantage. At least it doesn't take effort to setup the Xbox! :-)

Things live this do not help:
*Re-rollable 2+ saves (inv)
*Grav guns on relentless models (they need a weakness and making them relentless is stupid)
*The sheer amount of FMC's (or highly maneuverable) that are now available (for only some armies).
*Low AP, ignore cover shooting.
*Being able to SPAM awesome units with no drawbacks (Flesh hounds & Riptides come to mind).

Maybe GW make it this way so your are forced to "forge a narrative" and pick less on performance (because the good units in 1 army != the good units in another) and more on fun.

If so i salute them. Those sneaky so and so's!

Having said all this the community here in China is small and their are no tournaments so I do not see too much but i have faced the aforementioned "big 3" and its horrible at times.

Eldar are good, and they're only going to get better now that you can take Revenant titans in a normal game.

With the Revenant Titan, an ELdar army is almost invincible. His D weapons are ridiculous, and if you have seen the battle report in the ''Escalation'' thread at the 40k Gen. Discussion board here at Dakka, you will have noticed that with the enemy's puppet master, the Titan can kill everything on the board.

Eldar are strong in Escalation, but daemons and necrons can give them a run for their money. The revenant can be beaten and necrons have the tools to do so. Teslas will make a mess of AV12. It is the return of the Necron Airforce + C'tan if Escalation becomes allowed in tournament play.

FMC-spam with Be'lakor will also give elder problems, especially if daemons are going 1st. Currently, elder don't really have a solution for massed flyers. That is their main weakness.

Massive fire power may not be enough to take down all those FMCs in one turn. A Jetseer Council could help. FMCs are dangerous to open the Serpents in cc.

Eldar alone have weak anti-air, but ally in some Space Marines, and you're in business. I recently started playtesting an Eldar list with Iron Hands allies, taking a Stormraven and Stormtalon, against a Demon FMC list. It went pretty well for me. Eldar is the best bcuz they are the new hotne - yea whatever dude.

They are really good, no doubt. However until a Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat style system is set up where each army is played for a preset number of matches, by consistent high-placing tournament players, the results will always be skewed to the new hotness.

...and all that is just considering -lone- armies, it gets crazy with all the ally combos you can come up with.

I mean McDonalds is the most prolific food place anywhere, is it the best? Hellz No.

(Readies Flame Shield Lv3 for daring to in any way compare Eldar to McDonalds...sorry)
