The same quality as KR foam (in my opinion much better than BF) all for a lower price.

I wouldn't say that BF's foam is poor quality but I do prefer KR's soft foam. BF's hard foam encourages you to oversize the slots to make sure they'll accommodate various poses.

I just use industrial-grade pluck foam. A 1" thick tray with a 1/4" foam sheet backing is about $6. They're excellent for shipping models painted on commission, and pretty dang good for everyday transport and storage.

Battlefoam. I like the semi rigid foam more than soft foam, because I find soft foam tends to catch easily breakable spikey bits.

If I need custom foam, I'll go with Battlefoam. If I can get the size of pluck-foam I want from another company, I will.

KR, but not using the customs as I think you can get far more using the standard pluck.

For example I'm thinking about to ordering 2 cases as below:

1)
2/3 pluck - Night scythe and stand
1/3 20 infantry
2/3 pluck - 2x annihilation barge and 1x ghost ark (turned will protrude slightly (turned high bit of the ark) into the other half spare space the scythe stand doesnt use.
1/3 20 infantry

2)
1/2 pluck - 4x wraiths
1/4 20 infantry
1/4 20 infantry

1/2 pluck + 1/2 pluck - Striach stalker and 4x wraith (This i would prefer they did 1/4 trays, so i could get 1/4 full depth pluck and 2x 1/4 half for the wraiths, but no big deal to just cut a hole in half of the top 1/2 for the stalker to pop through.

KR autofill tells me I need much more, but i think the above works, so don't really have any need for custom.

I'd switch for a similar quality at a cheaper price, 1/4 trays would be a bonus but probably wouldnt swing it to an unknown product without the decrease in price too.

Offering it cheaper would be a good start. Bigger fits more in but may not be better. Remember that people have to lug these things around.

Very true. I used a Battlepack 2000 for a while and it had two faults. One was using egg-foam style foam, but the more serious issue was just that it was unwieldy and hard to transport.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

KR multicase.

Follow the link to my blog (shameless plug)and you can see how I store my Praetorian army in the most recent post.

being infantry heavy I like the 200 figure case (4 x 50 fig trays). For bulkier figures such as Space Marines, they offer trays that take fewer figs but in more comfort.

For vehicles I like the twin Leman Russ/ Chimera trays that allow you to have 8 vehicles per case. For my Armoured Fist company that allows me to have upto 6 Chimeras and fifty figs in one case.

I also like the Heavy Weapon trays. I can fit 16 IG Heavy teams in one layer with 150 troops on top.

I like KR as the basic prices for the cardboard case and trays are decent. It does get more expensive though if you want to buy, for example, a 4 case bag with trays (£132 to carry up to 800 basic infantry).

The beauty of KR though is that you can store at home in the cardboard cases and only require one bag that is filled with whatever is your favourite army that week/ event.

I use FELDHERR bags.

Quality is great, price is great, slot and pluck foam available from 10 to 100mm, the range goes from MINI MINUS (small skirmish transport) to storage boxes XXL, including very affordable cardboard storage boxes. Full trays are standard GW size, so they are interchangeable with KR Multicase and Sabol.

They only lack 2 things: custom pre-cut trays & an army trolley bag.

But since I don't have Apocalypse-sized WH40K armies, I don't need those.

To start, you should stick with GW size trays, and basically go for cheaper (and more intelligent) pre-cut trays for X-Wing, WH40K and probably FoW.

The stuff BF makes is not only overpriced but also really stupid (X-Wing trays especially were designed by someone who has no clue what is needed/actually carried around).

About 10 Years ago I made my first custom case out of a standard footlocker and thin wall paneling for tray bases. I used a thin layer of foam on each side of the panels then custom cut 1 or 2 inch thick foam sheets to fit each model I owned.

I eventually made 2 more, one for each army. Now I have a good career, a family, and far less free time. I have done a lot of research and decided on KR. I sampled BF and KR as well as others. I also looked at just ordering foam and using self built box to transport, but KR is such a simple effective solution.

I expect to have 30 or more card cases to hold mine and my wife's collections, along with a shelf full of gear cases to hold my big resin bugs.
