The concept art looks good. I'd be interested to see either a sculpted miniature before pledging.

However, the virtual gold coin system seems overly complex, which raises red flags for me. Why aren't the selections just given a price? And if I'm reading the prices correctly, they all seem pretty expensive, especially if you're talking about raising the prices afterwards.

I'd be reluctant to pay the prices listed at retail. ($25 for a base set of 5, correct?) I definitely wouldn't pay more than that.

Welcome to the Freakshow!

But... if this is what needs to be done, why are the books necessary? Wouldn't a mirror and some squatting suffice?

Also, when you're done, put me down for a preorder of two counts-as Great Unclean Ones.

Unless they're willing to cut off their skin to see how everything works and fits together on the inside, then no, they'll need a few books.

First off if any of those girls sneezed they would break their backs heh
Second the girl upside down on the pole is drawn strange, like the artist has no 3d concept.
Third the "take money even if not funded" seems a little scamish to me
Low post count and newish poster also leaves little faith

All in all I agree you need at least greens before you attempt to go this route.

Hello!

sculp from yesterday:

Making Stuff

Under the couch

Is she wearing a wig? Hair doesn't sit like that.

This also looks like it is being sculpted as a 3d sculpture, rather than as a castable master. All that linework on her hair will completely disappear, as will that tiny mole on her cheek. And with the way the 'hair' is sitting around her ears, it looks like you're heading for big problems with actually casting this.

From curiosity, does your sculptor have any experience sculpting human figures for casting? Because that can make a huge difference to the viability of a project. Getting a 3D sculpt is only the first part - it has to be castable.

Why the static poses? If you're doing pin-ups why should they stand reallllllly straight? That's not appealing. Also not appealing is the art style. Don't want to sound harsh, but it looks like a drawing of a girl who's on her tweens, trying to impress her crush by putting ridiculous breasts on her drawings. So unless you're trying to appeal to a 13year old male demographic, this won't end well if you base your sculpts on those drawings.

Uhm, yeah, 3D renders of 'meh' quality are not going to sell this. Show some actual sculpted models in real life then you can be taken more seriously.

Are there any female figures already available from this sculpter?

If this is 3D sculpt, I think you can take that concept head and do a hell of a lot better. Hair looks... off. Those pictures.... I'm sorry, but I think you can do better then that. I like big tits as much as the next guy, but those are not going to do well if those girls have to do any fighting. Any way to shrink them a little and just give them some more perk? Weapons as well, any action poses, or different weapons options? Swinging a club, holding a sword? Shooting a bow? Holding the spear like they want to rock and roll doesn't a Amozon make. How about them maybe... using the spear for a little stabby stab stab?

Good luck on that project, I just think you can do better. It's just seeming to me like you have a couple of good parts, but arn't putting them together in a complete figure.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

It's also worth noting that shape is also pretty important. Contrary to what your artist believes, breasts are not perfectly round balloons, and they shouldn't look like they're just popping up and out of the chest either. If anything, you should be working with a more tear-drop based shape, with the fatty tissue sagging slightly (we'll assume you're not going full national geographic with this). The entire breast needs to look like it connects to the muscle tissue at the top of the chest and the underside of the arm. It's kind of difficult to explain in text.

You might want to get in touch with the girls at JunkRobot: they ran a not-entirely-dissimilar kickstarter campaign and ran into a lot of problems with translating concept art into reality. They may be able to give you some hard won advice on the process of digital sculpting for miniatures.

Looking at what you have, it appears like it would be really difficult to put into production: detail loss, undercuts, where models need to be cast in 2 pieces, all of these things are more a matter of experience then abstract knowledge.

Are you sculpting on existing body blanks? I find it hard to believe that someone who doesn't know how hair works could produce a reasonably human looking face from scratch.

The legs: You don't seem to know what sort of materials you're trying to describe. None of your layered materials are affecting the layers underneath the way they should be. The boots in particular are presumably meant to be fur with hide wrapping based on the "art". The wrapping doesn't cut in to the boots at all, it should be pulling taught not flopping around, contouring to the boot. Ugh.

Buzzsaw: I think you're giving a huge compliment to this campaign with that comparison. This should be a P&M thread about someone learning to use CAD sculpting programs (and how to draw) not a campaign asking for money.

Here's a good example. You can see how the fur has more volume in the spaces between the hide thongs holding the boot together.

Yes, it all comes into focus. Nerds thinking about boobs making 3-d sketches that won't cast and asking for money they don't have to refund.

Dear Lord, go look at what people are actually saying in this thread!. Mixed in with the disdain and contempt there is quite a bit of advice.

This is all terrible. Buy a royalty free realistic HUMAN 3D model which has all the things like hair, anatomy and such built-in... Pose it, then have someone render clothes.

This is trash on every level. Don't re-invent the wheel when people have already done extensive work to make 3D human renders which are perfect.
