LOL, you gave me a flashback when I posted (way back when) that GW was doing a plastic Valkyrie, when FW had a resin one, and everyone said the same thing "But FW already has one..."...
Anyways, what of the new guard codex portion of the rumors? anything?
Well, they've stopped porting FW stuff directly into Codices, so anything new will be actually new. So not a gorgon or crassus, but something different.
Of course, the FW transports are all superheavies, and this sounds more like a 4HP Landraider/Battlewagon equivalent. Dont' forget, BWs can carry 20 models, meaning they could haul 10 ogryn.
A "new" model called Corgon or Grassus then!
Of course there superheavies *cough, knights* and GW wouldn't release * cough, knights* a model with HPs into a normal *cough, knights* game...

The leviathan was just a joke on my part, but it would be hilarious if GW puts out a Leviathan and tries to claim the name to stick it to Dreamforge Games with their Leviathans I'm sure GW legal is advising to procede with the plan

True. Are knights full on superheavies? I wasn't sure.
Still though, a heavy transport (battlewagon/Landraider class) is one of the few in theme niches that the IG are missing. Stuff like hard infantry, good assault units, jump packs, bikes/jetbikes, and MCs are all way out of theme, IMO. Wait, Grey Knights have an MC while Eldar have one of the toughest units in the game? Excuse me while I cry a bit...
Anyway, I'm back! I love the idea of a ~120pt, AV13/12/10 HP4 open topped transport.

I was thinking Battlewagon too. If you're going to give the Imperial Guard a new chassis, an armoured truck might offer more than another intermediate tank chassis.

If there is such a vehicle of that size released... you'll see me stocking up on Dreamforge APCs, then. Some people, including me, held back on those because they will end up being roughly Land Raider sized.
I just find it a bit sad that it seems like the grunt is being more and more pushed aside in 40K. They're almost a tax you have to pay to put everything else that is fething huge on the table.

I just want more vehicles & Cadians on quad bikes.
That regiment that uses giant turkeys as mounts in one of the GG novels would also be very cool.
Chocobo riders!?
No, not Chocobos - I meant Struthids freatured in Guant's Ghosts novel Straight Silver on Aexe Cardinale.
(This is one of my favourites although the incident in the Montorq forest was upsetting.)
They're more like elephant birds, ostriches and the moa birds with a psychic link to the rider.

The question I have is if the Hydra is going to be dropped from the Codex. Granted, since it was nerfed pretty hard when 6th dropped, I don't see this as being that big of a deal. There's also the different artillery variants to be considered, as well as the Valkyrie kit having the Vendetta parts being included. These are the things that we are not really hearing anything about. IG has probably the largest number of Codex entries without models (from GW proper that is, not FW) out of any Codex.

While I would generally agree with you regarding the overall state of the game, if this giant IG transport rumor is true, wouldn't that be putting grunts back into focus? Being able to move platoon sized Guard units may mean platoons make a bigger come back in army lists.

As mentioned before, there are a couple of big transport options in Apocalypse & Escalation already - maybe they'll just move these in to the regular codex. As the IK can be taken in regular games the precedent has been set.

It would, but it seems much more likely that it will synergize with the rumoured Ogryns/Bullgryns, especially if it has an assault ramp of some sort. I can hardly see myself assaulting with a squad of *gasp* guardsmen. Even if they all had 2 CCW. And will the large capacity address the limitations in regular 40K of only a single unit per transport? If not you have to use either said 'gryns or combined squads to make it worth your while.

Its heavy and land raider sized. That would seem to make it smaller than a Crassus or Gorgon... If I'm not mistaken. If it's a super heavy maybe so should a land raider as well as some other vehicles.

No doubt this rumor raises more questions than it answers, but if the transport can move platoons, then I could see myself using it quite often. Moving a platoon quickly and safely up the table would be wonderful for objective games.

Big tank doesn't mean super heavy. I doubt they will make it a SH. Just a tank the size of a LR. All though I doubt the rumor is true.

Agreed... I had originally written something to that effect but deleted it by accident.
I think a lot of people are saying superheavy just because of Knights... But it isn't necessarily the case.
One rumor said Ogryn might be going to the larger centurion base size... This thing is suppose to hold a full squad of them. How many standard guardsmen that ends up being will be interesting to see.
If this is true it's atleast an interesting way to try to reduce chimera spamming.

If Forge World is still selling their Death Riders, I think Rough Riders are (sadly) still okay.
Just hope they don't hamfist it into being Cadians with fur hats riding horses or other such nonsense like motorbikes with lances. Make a proper feral looking "regiment" with lots of trophies and adornments and genetically modified Imperial Horses.
I'm hoping we'll get some kind of FOC altering characters and Stormtroopers not being sucky anymore. I would love to have a reason to break my 50 Kasrkin out of their drawer and get them all assembled, cleaned, and painted.

Probably because people realize that the Gorgon is very much a "specialist" vehicle while the Crassus is more of an "all-purpose" vehicle.
