Huh, you're absolutely right. I wonder why they look so teeny-tiny.

Double Scourge wings it is! I've always liked the idea of Eldar biological engineering strapping bands of muscle and wings to normal Eldar so they can fly. Makes them seem that little more alien

You could imagine him flying like dragonflies with alternating wingbeats...

I got another idea from a friend.

If I thinned the wings down where they attach to the body, it would look less like they hit each other as they beat. I think that's also a good idea, but I dont want to mess the parts up by hacking at them badly. It's going to need more thought.

Just discovered this thanks to the gallery on the front page. Amazing stuff! Never saw such cool Biel-Tan, I never liked the paint scheme but now I love it. Mind sharing how you paint the green and white, which colors you're using etc?

Glad you like them.

The first warlock (Curufin) at the start of this thread was all bristles. I got an airbrush after that, so it changes.

White: the recent stuff
- prime black (vallejo airbrush paint)
- I mixed up 3 or 4 steps of lighter grey for the airbrush. The last is almost pure white.
- pure white with bristles to finish.

I tried both vallejo and badger airbrush whites. I think they are similar. cleaning the airbrush, using retardant, and filtering the paint make more difference than which brand.

green is pre-shaded like the whites, but more black and dark grey is left. then glaze over with airbrush vallejo olive green. highlight with "leaf green". It's a cheap tube of acrylic thats yellowy green. bit of retardent and water to thin.

I did some more more on Baharroth (after quite a hiatus). Not sure it's right, but I am going for 1 wing pair.

I am going to try for a black->turquoise->white transition on the feathers.

What a coincidence this is the third truescale Baharroth I've seen in as many days

Looking back I do think you've made the right decision with the one set of Scourge wings. It's still more impressive than the Hawk wings, but looks like it actually might be functional

What's your plan paint-wise?

I'm going to try a black turquoise white transition on the feathers. Keep him mostly black. Pick out bits in some other colors

Marvelous work going on. It may be a little too late to weigh in on the 1 vs 2 wing pair thing, but there was something really majestic and alien in the 2 pair version. One pair looks good, and makes more "sense" of course, but I think you were on to something with the previous version. Either way, nice work.

I think single pair is the right choice. Black > Turquoise > White will look cool too, and fit in nicely with the rest of your Biel-Tan.

Some progress.

I am painting 10 Banshees and 11 Scorpions in the same batch. Baharroth is the most exciting model, though.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I am going for white (the currently grey bits), gold and red-orange gems for accents.

Nice!

I like the way you haven't gone all the way up to white with the airbrush, and saved that just for the extreme highlights and energy effects on the sword.

Beautiful work dude, those wings came out superb and the glow on the gun barrel is very nice. The bit of dirt on the boots shows good attention to detail.

I finished a group. Shrine of the occulted blade.
There's a mix of lead (1990) and resin (new - ahem) models. I plan to use them as 1 large or 2 small squads. I might try the claw exarch as a Karandras stand-in: I think the loadout is the same.

Love the blue of the wings, so vibrant. Always struck by how much better the new jetbikes are whenever I see them up close

I like the new reinforcements – they look like they'll compliment the army nicely. Something assaulty for a change?!
