Otherwise you would provide an actual rules quote to back up your position instead of all the justifications as to why it doesn't prevent you from doing so. I think we're done here until you can support your position with a rule that allows you to take them separately, as the unit entry says otherwise.

No, I'm not. I am saying that I can by virtue of how the unit entry lists are constructed, just like I can every other unit in the codex, and this is never countered. Going by this argument, where are the rules that say you can take a Veteran Squad?

Can you prove I have lost general permission? I already have proven I do have general permission.

nekooni wrote:As I said - I consider the large border as sufficient

The large border is undefined, does not encompass the entire Platoon entry like the previous codex did, and does not exist in some of the digital formats. So, unfortunately doesn't provide a good basis.

I agree, there is no actual rule saying "this border represents that this is a single entry". But I still consider the "Infantry Platoon" to be the Army List choice and the sub entries not, since it is technically the entry. It simply has sub-details as indicated by the bordered area - I have no idea what it looks like in your digital version - maybe there is something that makes the entries visually distinct that you didn't notice, like it being an inch farther to the right or so.
But I'll grant you that the RAW might be not CLEAR enough in what they wanted to say, and inconsistencies between digital and physical don't help that at all sadly. No side can find a definite "this is how this works" 100% effective line in the codex

so we go either by RAI (which I'd say is "you can't take them solo") or HIWPI - and I'd play it as "no you can't take them solo".

After going through the BRB, I'd say the following quote from the "Choosing your army" section might apply to the issue:
BRB wrote:In some older codexes, the information for a single unit’s Army List Entry is spread out amongst different sections of the book. Taken together they describe, and are treated for all rules purposes as, a single Army List Entry.

But once again it is worded in such a way that it doesn't fit 100% (a single unit's Army List Entry)

the problem with the BA book is that BA are melee oriented, and they forgot to give them anything to help make it to melee, either by speed or survival.

At wargames con, my marine battle company had all of 3 close combats the entire tournament. Shoothammer 40k indeed.

Did the Tournament have Maelstrom as primary objectives and allow unbound and unrestricted army list building? If not then it isn't Shoothammer it is shootbowl 40,000 as you've stripped a bunch of rules added into 7th to help balance the shooting power 6th gave to the game.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

The platoon organization rules are not a unit restriction, it is rules for access to the units within the platoon normally.

Under the old marine dex you could take a command squad or just a unit of servitors.

You don't have to buy the unlocking units in unbound, you just have to buy the units as listed.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Think of it this way, then: Can you take a unit of 2 Marines with melta guns as a Tactical Squad? No, because that goes against the rules as per their entry in the Codex; the unit is 5-10 and you can only take one special weapon. Just because you're going unbound doesn't mean you can ignore the unit restrictions/ guidelines.

Yes and a unit of heavy weapons squad is 3 heavy weapons teams. I never said to take less or more teams in the squad: just that you do not need tge rest of the platoon for tge squad.
