Then why mention it at all? Why mention you dislike ITC when you are not gonna say why. If you are gonna come in, say you dont like it, give numerous examples of various people only wanting to play ITC, but not tell us why you do not like ITC maybe they could improve it.
Im telling you now, finding ITC events is gonna be a pain. People only really want to go to those events because, in the sorry state 40k is in, they offer a baseline and a familier thing. You are unlikely going to find a non-itc event, and are better off trying it more

I'd let it go, hsm.

No, he responds and says "I have an answer, but I aint gonna tell ya" No. I need an answer.

Dude, give it up or take it to PM.

It does seem like you're being a bit aggressive; if you need an answer, take it to PM, he's offered to freely discuss it with you there. If you're looking to target his opinions publicly and try to draw others to join in, that's one thing, but if all you want is personally to know his reasons, PM him. I can tell you he's said similar things about the NOVA format, I PM'ed him, we had a good long chat about it. He's not being disingenuous in saying that.

Not only is there an offer but many posts(almost half) saying he's not debating it here. He stated what he IS looking to discuss many times as in his first post. No means no guys.

To the topic: I just got back into the hobby with 7ed and am unfamiliar with ITC. Helping open a new hobby shop though at Penn State, I have set up a few events to begin running. I like book scenarios as well as Tactical Objective cards. Either adding cards to a game or choosing a few specific one's on which to base objectives is something I'm experimenting with.

Our first event is a TINY escalation league going from 100-1100 points to help build a player base and get new folks and armi into the hobby. This events scenarios are still being put together but some inspiration has been taken from NOVA as a start point from which to make scenarios that will be fun for all.

Yeah, the UT Alcohol thing sucks, but I have ways. Out of COMPLETE curiosity, what shop are you at in LA. I used to live down there and still make a few trips a year when I can. Might pop in next trip.

It's Game Empire Pasadena. There is a RTT every second Saturday of each month. They are an ITC event but rarely run ITC missions. They normally run a mix of Eternal and Maelstrom missions.

Second Saturday, not 2nd Tuesday, Bah ... kara. It's on the weekend, you know? The day you don't work?

You poor soul. It's okay. There's this thing called a "calendar" ... I'll show you later or you could ask Siri to help you.

@Akar
Game Empire Pasadena.

I echo this sentiment, he owes you no explanation. You aren't entitled to an explanation simply because you feel like he owes you one. You're not his boss, parent, or superior in any way to make demands like that.

That's because I sometimes work 7 days so it can get a bit confusing when you work a couple weeks before getting a day off

Akar.. I wonder if you've met Alan in Las Vegas.. He's told me that they mostly play Maelstrom missions there.

Out of my Mind

Tragically, most of my recent trips down to Vegas have only been for a few hours, so I've only gone to the GW for P/U games. So I haven't really branched out down there. I've only recently decided to look at the tournament scene, so not visiting other stores down there is something that I'm only regretting now.

Maybe I gave the wrong impression, but it has only been a few places that run ITC missions as their normal game nights. The majority of the shops I visit don't unless it's an event. I meant to just point out that it is happening. So I apologize if that came across as being the more common thing.

My main concern is finding a tourney or event that doesn't use the ITC format, missions, or even Nerfs. It doesn't bother me if they report to the ITC one bit, since I'm not interested in having my name in lights. So back to the 2 points listed above.

Thank You everyone again for helping me.

There are tons of GTs. Try looking at some posted in this sub forum. It always amazes me how some want everything handed to them.

I've been looking into getting into tournaments again, and I am finding it difficult to find a non ITC event. I'm wondering if there are others out there that are just as frustrated? Is there a resource or a way to find non ITC events?

Note: I'm not here to downplay or insult the ITC. I just don't like their system, format, restrictions, and having difficulty finding alternatives.

It must have taken you longer to write that than it would have to c/p a link.

So you say several times that people only ant to use ITC evens, but never explain why that is bad?
They are well tested and focused grouped scenarios that are way better then the book missions

I can't speak to his feelings, but I'm happy to share mine.

It doesn't bother me a bit if someone prefers a given format. I like different formats depending on my mood. What does bother me is when people -- often young guys without a lot of experience in the hobby -- adopt and proclaim one format as the ONLY way to play. Especially given how malleable 7th edition 40K is.

I'd be really frustrated too if all the gaming opportunities around me were "ITC-way or the highway," not because of any particular issues with ITC so much as the existence of that general mindset in the local gaming community. Which again may be completely different that the OP's feelings on the matter.

I do share your frustration man, just in a different manner.
I'd really like to play some ITC (at least on paper, i never got to play it) but here it's pretty much ETC everywhere.
