Armageddon

Looks great. I really love the arachnarok spider. The only thing that stands out is the mostly skin-models like the ogre firebelly. I think either thinning your paints or a wash plus some highlighting could really help.

I recently started highlighting some of my orks' skin and its doing wonders. Washes make anyone a great painter lol.

Below is a model I converted to represent the character I play as in the RPG Black Crusade. His (full) name is Grand Master Xerxes the unfathomably clever; he is rather arrogant. He is a Nurgle worshipping master surgeon and flesh-moulder, which is why he has eight arms. He lost his face due to death induced mutation in a fight with a fellow player character (the psyker) who was moments from full on possession by a greater daemon, and consequently he wears other people's faces in order to calm those around him (or so went the plan). His most impressive escapade was tunnelling into the body of a giant (hurricane sized) demonic tortoise in order to find its nervous system. The goal was to make the tortoise fall to its knees in order to complete a challenge given to the party by the greater demon which possessed the psyker.

I like the Goblin chariot the best. If I were to offer a suggestion I'd say you're overly dependent on inks (I'm the same way), - I'd go a little lighter and be sure to dull cote. Keep up the good work!

Thank you, washes are a bit of a crutch...

Below is Xerxes with his three Fredricks! (His three greater minions of chaos). Xerxes utilised a custom stain of the zombie plague virus to create loyal undead minions, who he then operated on to produce the monstrosities you see below.

Because I had some parts left over from my conversion of Xerxes and the Fredricks I made a squad of Chaos Cultists, led by a Chaos Commissar. I converted him from the miniature from the dark vengeance box set but gave him a flamer, a flaming sword and a new head with a sculpted Commissar hat.

I am aware that the colours I painted the cultists are varied and arguably clashing, but I wanted to try out a few new colours and it sort of fits for chaos doesn't it?

Satisfied that the hoard is large enough for his liking the Warboss finally shows up, mounted atop his trusty squig. No-one ever sees him off of his mount, some say that he considers the ground to be beneath him, others that the squig would eat him if given half the chance. I guess the boyz will never know....

I'm not sure what to do about that.

The pictures are the correct way up on my computer when I upload them, and if you click on the pictures they are presented the correct way up.

Nice, solid painting with an attractive earthy palette and good tonal awareness. The redhoods and cultists are great examples of groups that hang together on the table while still allowing the individuals pieces to stand out.

My technomantic knowledge isn't great, but I believe the sideways image issue is caused by the Dakka gallery – it defaults to the angle at which the camera was held or something. Not sure what the solution is (beyond only taking photographs from one angle), but that might give you a starting point to search for

Marching out from her monastery comes the leader of my kill team, Sister Superior Lucrezia, armed with a combi-melta, a power sword and her faith in the Emperor. She likes long walks on a beach head and the smell of burning heretics.

I'm finding that I really quite enjoy free-hand painting the the fleur-de-lis icons on these models.

To fill out the operatives for my sisters of battle kill team I have painted a sister repentium. Whilst the design for them is cool (disgraced warrior nuns wielding massive chainswords externalising internal shame with exposed skin), the extent to which the exposed skin in done on them I find to be a bit uncomfortable and so I find it unfortunately detracts somewhat from the design.

However, being unable to find one which gets the balance right I have gone with one which maximises the cool factor. So behold!

The old Saint Celestine miniature, though now replaced with a newer one, is still a beautiful miniature in my opinion. Though I probably won't use her as saint celestine (I'll wait until I get the amazing new one for that) I'm sure I will be able to find a use for her in my army; perhaps as a sister superior for a seraphim squad... I'll just have to mull it over with the codex at some point.

The Warboss has been busy this winter and has rustled up some more gobbos. I'm pleased with how the Sqig Gobbler turned out; good practice for my current project....

It's annoying the things you miss, I'll have to be more observant about stray bits of static grass in the future. For now, let's say it's there due to that gobbo having other 'duties' he has to see to at the rear end of their artillery piece...
