This came up before, and it just went to whatever came 3rd going again. I don't think it's fair to have the same option 3 months running. It'll be back, though, when we do the poll of four that got in twice.

Absolutely!

On that note, there is no need for full blown diorama should this win. You can do just as well with a single mini, eg a Guardsman standing over a CSM helmet and wondering how the heck he won, or someone hunkering down behind cover getting ready for a final stand.

That said, I'm actually think of lifting the model limit here, there is potentially for some epic dioramas here and I don't want to limit anyone. Yay or nay?

I... actually don't know. Help?

Yay! Would a guardsman shouting 'NEVER TELL ME THE ODDS' to a fellow comrade and jumping into a pit of nasty gribblies work?

Yes! Lift the model limit!

INSANE army lists still available!!!! Now being written in 8th edition format! I have Index Imperium 1, Index Imperium 2, Index Xenos 2, Codex Orks Codex Tyranids, Codex Blood Angels and Codex Space Marines!
PM me for an INSANE (100K+ points) if you desire.

I was gonna ask if you were intending to this time. Lifting the limit seems like a plan.

It will give preference to those who plan to do more/make a diorama, but winning isn't such a big deal with these things.

An increased limit will probably help me should I come up with anything for this one.

Hopefully there won't be any unfair advantage as the limit is lifted for everyone. It just occurred to me that portraying both sides of a hideously uneven battle with 5 minis total might be a tad difficult!

I'm not expecting any 50 model dioramas or anything, jut trying to give a bit more freedom in representing the themes!

Wait, does lifting the model limit equal infinite models? SO MUCH WIN!

No limit it is! Obviously all the other rules apply, so no including already done minis or anything, but if you can paint it in the month, you can enter it!

I think I'm gonna have to take a leaf from the agile development (programming methodology) book and build mine in slices, with the goal of making it as big as possible by the end of the month It's got three distinct elements: protagonists, antagonists, and scenery... so I'll have to do a little of each at a time.

Otherwise, I may pick out 20 antagonists and struggle to finish them by the deadline and never even get started on the setting and heroes.

I'm pretty sure I've got 2 and 3 picked out, but I can't decide who to use for my heroes. I've got plenty of Nomads to paint but I'm not sure if they'll fit in with my choice of badguys and scenery. I'll have to ponder this. I'm still trying to decide if I want to craft my round 6 challenge into a mini-dio or not.

I'm thinking of making the contest my entry if Odds wins.

Not getting abstract there, I mean a little painter in a seat and a stack of too many figures to paint.

Go for it BC! Also, how many Nids must a guy walk down (paint down?) before he goes insane? We'll see. This is going to be big...

Hmm, just found an old Millennium Falcon model in need of some serious TLC... With the uni move I've only got half a month really to rebuild, scratch-build some replacement guns/other bits and paint it up, but it would almost be worth it to fit the theme so perfectly...

If not, it'll be a diorama, probably involving Plague/Strain Zombies and some Enforcers or other sci-fi good guys.

You read my mind...

I have two Fine Molds Falcon (1/144 and 1/72) models in my stash, both of them started but unfinished. I started replacing the modeled piping on the small one with brass rod and styrene but I never got around to finishing it. The hull of the larger one is more or less assembled, but I wanted to add lights so I put it on the back burner until I got a little more confidence in my electrical skills.

If I have time this month, which I doubt, I was going to try and finish one when I saw what the category was.

Would doing several models individually (i.e. not an actual diorama) with one "good guy" facing several of his enemies count? I could probably manage something like that!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

If I get in on this and sculpt something, what universe?

Skyrim, Dark Souls, or Destiny? So many choices. I think Destiny has the most promise as I can use Genestealers to make Thrall.

And does it have to be an enemy force? Can't the odds be forced on you by a cliff jump, the elements, or a portal? Just curious.

Thinking on it, a Deathwatch marine might fit the bill as they (like most space marines to be fair) tend to operate i such a way that they're generally outnumbered.

@Stormwall: Short answer: yes, that's fine.

Long and general answer: how you approach the theme when entering these challenges is 100% up to you; if you have an idea that you think fits and that you can convey, then go for it! I'm not going to disallow anything unless it's totally against the theme of breaking the other challenges rules.

So yeah, the more creative takes on the theme we get, the better! At the end, you're being voted on based on the theme anyway, so as long as you bear that in mind, you're good to go!

I voted for 'Magic' but I'm keen on 'Odds' as well. There are a few EonsOfBattle tutorials I want to try - which reminds me, does anyone know what happened with him? He stopped posting tutorials after a while.

Oh, one more thing. I know a lot of you probably do this anyway, but if you're planning something big for this then feel free to start working on it before the challenge starts officially. Obviously you still need Proof pics for when it does and such, but I won't hold it against you if you take a few days' head start if you're doing a dozen-model diorama ect!

So what do you guys think... I'm planning to have one or more corregidor Nomads facing off against something in a spaceship city interior.

I can do deadzone sci-fi zombies.

Or I can do a mix of green aliens drawn from my old tyranid collection (stealers, gaunts, maybe a warrior) and maybe some reaper gribblies.

What do you guys think?
