The main problem is that at this time, we have a lot of supporters from the Role Playing Game aspect, and most of those guys do not seem to want to use bases. It is much easier to remove an integrated base or do base modding to a model that has an integrated base, than it is to make a tabbed mini free standing without the use of a plastic base. It was a very tough decision on our part, since the project has the potential to be used within several different applications. Sorry :-(

So looks like integrated bases are there to stay. I think it makes sense to focus on your main market, but it does lessen the utility of some of the minis for wargaming use (having just recently removed an integrated base from a metal model, it's a real bear imo). Seems like it'd be especially hard for something like that toad since so much is touching the base...

The toad is designed to stand up by itself and therefore will not have an integrated base. Other models that can stand on their own will not have bases as the integrated base is for that. Hope that helps. Thanks for your questions as I see now it was something we should have covered.

Ah, that helps then - I can see a few of them that probably wouldn't have bases in that case (although it would be helpful to know which for sure).

The Ground Diver looks really cool! But for someone to add it on they first have to pledge at the $85 level, right? I think in the future a true "a la carte" pledge level might be helpful, for people that want just a certain mini (you can price it to make it worthwhile, of course).

I'm still a backer (and will remain so) but not sure if I can up it before the end, this is an expensive time of year!

I think you are right about the "a la carte" option, and totally understand that it is an expensive time of year. Unfortunately, our busy time to make a living is in the summer and this is our only opportunity to try and grow our miniature business. This is our second Kickstarter and it is still a learning process. We have 2 more Kickstarters scheduled before going back to work-work, and hope this takes off to a degree where we can involve more people.

We have structured it very cautiously due to our company size and working capitol to make sure we can deliver on these Kickstarters in a timely fashion. We recognize others in the industry that have failed to deliver out there, and do not want to bite off more than we can chew. To that effect we decided not go the big business route, nor the medium business route, aimed to capture every possible contribution.

I believe once we are moving along a bit better and have a feel for our market and interest in what we are trying to do we will be able to structure these a bit more open.

Thanks again for being willing to share your incites. They are more helpful then some may realize!
